I hope it's not from us.

I don't think it will be the Flyers going that high for Carle. However, Parise I think they go really, really high on the offer.

The Flyers waiting until today to sign Leighton tells me they probably wanted either Biron of Clemmensen first. Oh well, it is what it is. Moving on

My only issue with this is the $900 price tag. I would of thought $600k could have closed the deal. Homer needs to negotiate better

It's going to take $75-80 million to land him.

Who is Bucky Gleason?

I think he was in that movie about a wannabe porn actor.

Ryan ultimately has no say where he goes.

I love how fans under estimate the impact a players opinion can have on a trade. Any team that trades for Bobby Ryan is going to use their connections to find out if Ryan wants to play there before they make the deal. If he doesn't, no teams gonna make the deal.

Flyers will likely wait to hear from Parise before going the Nash/Ryan route. I'm on board with that.
- LordStanley88

Still think the Flyers have about 5% chance of signing Parise.

I would agree with that assessment and a significant portion of that in the first two years of the contract.

Or they were just waiting until 12 noon for some sort of cap reasons. No coincidence they signed him right at 12 noon..
- Flyers2821

Once they traded Bob (and moved JVR), I assume they had the tagging space to add Leighton at 900K whenever they wanted.

I mean, you think every single NHL team hasn't seen that quote from Ryan that he wants to play for the Flyers? They absolutely did and they absolutely used their connections to get close to Ryan and see where he wants to play.

damn
according to the poll, flyerdom is basically split 4 ways as to what they'd like to see today

- Crimsoninja

not busting on Bill, but it was a flawed poll
the options are too cut and dried, most want some sort of mix of those things to happen

Matt Carkner signs with the Avalanche - one less team interested in overpaying for Carle

He will play or he doesn't get paid. Its that simple. He's shown no signs of holding out so let's not consider him like he is just yet. Ducks will take the best offer for him period.

Ryan is an FA in 2 yrs too. Whatever teams gets him will want to sign him to a l-t extension.

You are completely forgetting the team that is giving up a slew of prospects to acquire him. Every team in the NHL has a roster full of players that can EASILY get to Bobby Ryan to see if he would want to play for their team. If he does not want to, they know this and will not trade for him.

There are two sides to a trade my friend.

Ok, well then I knew they had the space to resign Leighton whenever they wanted. Satisfied? It isn't that confusing
