I would be happy with signing one of the following Carle, Doan, Jagr, or Tootoo. But from the sounds of Tambi's interview this afternoon it looks like he is looking to make splash by going the trade route. - Oil Tycoon
Cool. Hopefully there are salary dumps out there that hinge on teams needing to free up space for whatever reason. Something like the Michalek deal would be nice.

All those guys are sweet esp doan and too too. Jagr I lke but just too solid on the RW who cna play LW and who can play centre? Wasn't eberle a RW/C cause that would solve a lotta issues. |

No Kidding. If Schultz steps in as expected (or even exceeds, like Gardiner did last year) then it's essentially as though you've been given two top 5 selections. - lumlums
Ya baybay! Apparently Schultz's coach said he like Jake but better offensively.
I'm chillin' with that right now. |

I figure we need to search out a little more muscle over Jagr |

lol You Edmonton fans make me laugh. Did I want Schultz? Not really because I thought to my self: Where would he fit?
We have Phaneuf, Liles, Franson, Gardiner, Gunnarsson, Komisarek. We have Korbinian Holzer, Stuart Percy and Jessy Blacker knocking on the door. Not to mention Morgan Rielly who will be added next year.
Toronto is stacked on D, so we aren't as desperate as you guys. For your sake, I hope it works out and he doesn't become a bust. Edmonton has had rough times that three straight 1st overalls couldn't fix.. maybe adding schultz will help. Good luck! - deal-
Did I want Parise? Not really because i thought to myself: Where would he fit?
We have Hall, Eberle, Nuge, Yak, Hemmer, Gags. We have PRV, Tank, Pitlick knocking on te door. Edmonton is stacked up front so we aren't as desperate as you guys.

Eb's IMO would be the ideal choice to convert to play center
-He has played center in the past
-Hall game is suited to play the wing
-Hall is the only true top 6 LW the team has
It seems like a no brainer to me. |

I loved Torres, hated that we let him go.
Tootoo has issues, wouldn't want him anywhere near the young kids. |

I Remember that...
He can skate, hit and has size though.
On a team lacking most of those qualities, ill take the dumb penalties. Happily |

This time of year, GM's and people in the know are laughing at the so called internet rumor guys and their breathless "updates".

Let's say it the way it is. NHL GM's share trade/UFA strategy with very tight circle of staff. Do you really think rumor guys have a clue?

I hear ya - there's something about him that crosses the line for me and of course having said all that I know we need more of what he brings. He just comes across like a real (frank)ing sadist but also outright clueless. If he could just mature a little - pick his spots more...

I wouldn't go that far, Jagr could show these kids the ropes better than anyone. Doan coming home would instantly give you the captain you need since Smith. I like Smyth but would much rather those two guys filling in the 2nd line LW. |

perhaps not the best fit, but a close Idea, plus he's available, -minus way more natives in the cheap seats. sorry |

truly, but both are RW so many RW, not sure who can play LW and really are you going to ask those players to convert now? |

A close idea for sure and I'm sure tons of Oiler fans would love Tootoo. If for no other reason then one less guy to line up Hall when his wing speed carries him behind the net only to be met by Tootoo who's already taken 40 strides toward that point. |

It's my personal opinion that Edmonton is a terrible city and the Oilers will suck anyway and Justin schultz is both Selfish and destined to fail.
But I'm not being bitter, though. That's just my opinion. |

But hey wait - if you didn't land Schultz you'd be saying he's selfish too and stuff.
lol.
you know - I'm still objective about it and I do question his character a little at this point but I say I think it actually took some courage to come to the Oilers - not sheltered and wants to be a part of actually building the winner not running to one. Kind of ironic really with some of "The Decision" quips. |
