If the Leafs "D" is so stacked it shouldn't matter who was in net should it? - Oil Tycoon
Is that a serious question or are you trying to be funny? No team, no matter how good the offense or defense is, if the goaltending is bad they are destined to fail. Canucks for example, 1st place in nhl during regular season. In playoffs, suspect goaltending led to 1st round exit against an 8th seed with an outstanding goalie. Just saying. |

Ryan Dittrick interviewed him and he said that he was made no guarantees with regards to ice time or his role on the team. He said "Look at who they have there, they'll all be superstars one day and I want to be a part of that" - mckeevs2012
Ya it's funny - people got so caught up in one of the so called positives for EDM being a GUARANTEE of ice time.
There's no way the presentation to Schultz included that. The opportunity for that is very high with EDM but even he knows he has to earn it - I would think he wants to.
And if he would have acted like that in negotiations I have to believe the Oilers would have walked.
I also like that he mentioned Kreuger's presence and the style he wants to play.
Learning about Kreuger's motivational speaking career was pretty eye opening for me. I have to think he did tell Schultz that with the right structure/ system to the Oilers game - he'll have every opportunity to jump in the play - looking at his highlights the guy plays like a forward half the time. |

The Leafs' D has a couple of solid pros and some real good prospect depth, that is all. The offense was good last year, Kessel I think earned the right to have people STFU for a bit. It was the coaching and goaltending, and bottom six that ate a big Richard last year. - Zezel
I completely agree. |

TOR d-man roster is so stacked that Burke decided to still put in a offer for Schultz, obviously he has some insecurities to the d-man core otherwise he would be one of the teams to just leave Schultz behind...also TOR d-man is so stacked...they finished 29th places in goals against per game of 3.16. TOR...so so so stacked... |

Umm... Maybe if he signed schultz and schultz played good, he could trade some defensive prospects to get help up front on Center. Thank god you're not a GM. |

No
That is not AT ALL why the nucks lost. U clearly didnt watch the series.
Although outplayed by quick who stood on his head, Schneider was great and luongo played very well too. Even canuck fans will attest to this.
Lu was pulled for no other reason than a change was in order down 2-0.
The hits just keep comin with u |

You guys had to offer a 21 y.o unproven kid with zero NHL experience top 2 minutes. Also, because you had a feeling that the minutes wouldn't be enough, you asked Gretzky and Paul Coffey to call him. LOL... He definitely didn't go on his own.

Granted there are some skilled players on your list but a lot of it is just leafs land hyping there players. Almost every fan base can spin there roster the same way you are but until they take the next step they are average at best. - Oil Tycoon

What are you talking about? When did I say it's good burke went for Schultz? YOU said burke put in a offer for Schultz because he was insecure. I said no, maybe he signed him to try him out, and if he fit in, then burke can trade prospect to get help up front.
Lay off the smack kid and try reading before replying. |

This is pretty huge for the Oilers though... perfect guy to add right now at no real cost.
Took Nail in the draft, and ended up with Schultz who can step in right away.
The future looks bright.

I'm ok with signing him to a PTO to see if he really still has game in him. - SteveTambellini
A PTO wouldn't be too bad of an idea and see how he handles her down in the AHL. |

I realize this is NOT going to happen, but what if Suter looks at the Oilers and realizes that if he came here this team would be just deadly, that would be hilarious if he came here. |

honestly, i cant see why a player wouldnt want to play in edmonton right now. in 2-3 years this team will be in a similar position to the 08-09 penguins and will be in position to compete for multiple championships. they would just need a top flight goaltender for that but maybe they could pry miller away from buffalo? i hoped the leafs would sign schultz but i think he made the best decision by joining the oilers in terms of playing time and potential for future success. |
