Wow...that's drastic. MB basically on his last lap. No thanks. MAF was damn close to being team MVP last year. Obviously had to go to Malkin, but I'd say the overwhelming runner up was Fleury. Every tender needs help. MAF didn't get any the last little bit in the season and was completely hung out to dry against the Flyers. Sure he looked bad, but the defensive coverage was worse.....that goes for D and forwards. We do need a little help on D. Got a couple of blue chip kids ready or very close. MAF isn't going anywhere. - madmike71
I know it's drastic
But I think after a goalie loses confidence, it's almost impossible to get it back. the playoffs are like quicksand
I look at MAF's body language during that flyers series and even though the D was bad, his play was worse. Tough to look worse than Bryz, and he managed to do that.
So, sign Parise, Doan, and Brodeur, and move Martin and Fleury...far from impossible.
I'll ask you this. Would you sleep better at night with Brodeur or Fleury in net? |

And I'll up you one more.....Move Fleury for D help and sign Brodeur to his cap hit - bruinsbeer69
Why would any team move a 27 year old goalie to sign a 41 year old even if it is to help the defense. Everything about that is a temporary fix. Why not look into signing a couple guys like Scott Hannan and Greg Zannon for about what Broduer would cost and keep the Fleury.
Granted I am the captain of the HMS We Don't Need Suter, the Pens don't need the big name, they need consistant solid names. |

Honestly, Fleury. Broduer is done, Fleury doesn't struggle with confidence. He'll be alright. He bounced back from his horrible start in 2010-11 he'll bounce back from this. Especially with the organization and the vast majority of the fans supporting him.
This isn't a Luongo-like situation where the fans want him out. We still want Fleury. |

Fun team to watch. that's my thought
Martin has a cap hit of 5. Can youy squeeze Sullivan and Zanon in for that? Doan made 4 and some change last year. I think he'd take the same for a shot at the cup, so that can work under your cap constraints
Suter/Parise will command 7 ish, and I'll go Parise

Can't really answer that question without acknowledging the factors. The biggest of course is age. MB is just about done. MAF is 27. I don't deny that MAF has dealt with confidence issues in the past and sometimes still does, but he's always proven to shake that off and it usually coincides with the team deciding to nut up and play a little defense. That Philly series was such a joke in so many ways, but my biggest gripe with the teams and coach's approach was hanging the goalie out to dry. I knew we'd start hearing the same old garbage that Fleury sucks and he's really not that good.
Put it this way, if the Pens move Fleury, most knowledgeable Pens fans will chase Ray Shero down and shave his head to check for lobotomy scars.

Most of the year MAF kept this team in games where they were dratically out played. In those games we just out scored them. He gave the team time to score. In the post season and the last, 15-20 games they didn't even bother to try and cover the back third of the ice. When Crosby came back the team only skated in one direction.
It was like they figured they could just out score other teams without consequences, well even the best goalies need structure in front of them to know where the puck will be coming from. |

Doubtful but that could be a reason he could come here and for cheap. I would wonder if Crosby having two good friends (Armstrong and Parise) would effect his game at all. |

Army was good when he was here, but I'm begging for Prust this time, Colby is a walking band-aid these days. |

Brodeur is done?
He just went 3 rounds without the trap in place, and without Stevens and Neidermayer in front of him.
Fleury has major confidence issues right now and can sh!t the bed at any given moment. Why do you think Shero got Vokoun as a 1A?
If you get bounced in round 1 again next year, you'll gonna have to look at the goaltending issue |

For me getting Armstrong for less than $1 mil. is a no brainer. Off course only if we could trade Kennedy first.
Prust or Asham...........Armstrong or Burrish......give me two of them and I'll be happy. |

That was Broduers last grasp. If he still has so much left why is Jersey even risking him going UFA they aren't in a Bos/Van situations where they have a capable starter waiting in the reeds.
Shero got Vokoun because in the last two seasons Fleury has been overplayed because Johnson couldn't cut it. They needed a better backup.
Not many people are blaming Fleury for either playoff loss. Against TB the injuries to Crosby and Malkin played a big role, as well as a PP that went 1-27. This year the whole team fell apart from the coaching down. |

If we happen to land Parise, you could probably convince most Pens fans that a Jannie Pesonen return would be a good idea, just because of the high we all would be on! |

First thought....
WOW,that's a lot of words.
Then...
Is the Cap considered in all of this?
Then, if Yes...
Hot damn, I can't wait.
Then, if No...
WOW, that's a lot of words. - Doogs
yes sir... yes it was... pens would have cleared 13 million if martin was traded (with z and staal) only took back 2 million. cap going up again a few million. so if suter is 7 mil, doan 5 mil, zanon 2 mil and armstrong one... subtract lovejoy, asham, park... works out perfect
