JVR slots on the second line nicely. He gives Grabovski room to manuver, thanks to his large frame. If the Leafs can find another go to the net type, for the second line, that 2nd line could be a very effective weapon. Add a decent 1st line centre, for Kessel and Lupul, preference with size, and there is the makings of a good one two punch. The third line would be very good too, with Kulimen, Bozak and Frattin. That would constitute the trading of MacArthur and Kadri, plus a defenceman and a prospect. That would be the pieces needed to either grab a centre or another top 6 winger. Now can Burke make these moves, without gutting what he already has?
- PrinceLH

I wouldn't put it past him.

Personally think Kule should remain on the 2nd line, but that's just me...

This is what's wrong with the majority of leafs fans....they say they want a real rebuild but have zero patience to let a stay-at-home dman develop. He won't be near his potential for another 2 maybe 3 years.

He's 23 and people think he should be logging 22+ minutes a night.

- Juice

29 years old is when shut down D hit their potential. So the pros on here say...and yes, those are the same ones that coveted Schenn. Sorry Juice, if some forward help could have been had now rather than wait 7 years for Richardson to come into form, I'd go for the forward. Am I wrong? Maybe. Will Richardson turn into the Adam Foote that some assumed he would? Maybe. I just just met you, and this is crazy, but here's my number, so call me, maybe?

It's a risk/reward thing I guess. They'll have to see Lupul put another season up like he did last year. Him and Kessel were the lone bright spots for the Leafs, Gardiner was a nice surprise but not on the level of Kessel and Lupul. They needed each other which was pretty evident when Lupul went down but credit Kessel to keep the ppg pace up. I don't buy this bs that the coach and Lupul hate each other. They're grown men and I highly doubt they'd let that ruin the product on the ice. I'm sure Burke would even tell Carlyle to stop (frank)ing with the lines and put Lupul back if something happened.
- weirdoh

They really did have some sort of special chemistry, who would have guessed? And yeah I'm just nervous the D-first system brings them back down to earth. And yeah they are over it for sure. I thought it was showing in Lupul's game when Randy took over but I think that was his injured wrist more than anything.

I didn't think Orr was punchdrunk I knew he had that one bad concussion but figured he recovered. Still your making it seem as if Orr is softy, he was one of the toughest fighters in the league. I'd rather have both personally
- maverickJ

The words out on Orr is all im saying...every champ has his Reign...and then they meet younger hungrier fighters.. First is was derek engelynd (sp) on Pitt, and then a kid on Edmonton, and then Parros...Orr was a good fighter once, but Parros >>>Orr and no room for two guys that only fight.. Parros can do all the nothin Orr does when not fighting only guys still fear Parros... I liked Orr too, but hes a different player if you watched Calder run he wasnt even doin much there

This.

So many Leaf fans were already putting Rielly in our top 6 for next year. Schenn jumped onto our defense right away because our D was atrocious. This may have screwed up Schenn's development, that and Wilson. But now we have the depth, let Rielly got to junior for another year and we'll see how he is next year.

I want to punch these kind of Leaf fans in the nose.

He was at 18...

Agree, definitely lost faith in a guy that will shine for years to come. Honestly though, he'll probably be much better off with Philly. #flyerforlife

I wish someone would tell him that once you turn 19 it's time to drop the "y"
- Juice

I would pay to see someone tell this to Joey Kocur. The best president of the united states and the best poster in the hockey world both keep the Y.

Really that is one of the dumbest things I have ever read.

Just saying. And dont suspend me for having an opinion. But smug peole who think they have to act all grown up just really bug the hell out me.

I'm not disputing the trade, the trade makes total sense.
I'm disputing people's lack of patience with Schenn.

I hope Schultz gets booed in every arena he plays in for the rest of his career. And if he doesn't have the game to back up all this hype...my god.

Well, in my scenario, any deal for a #1C would include Kadri/Colborne and Mac in some kind of package....maybe even Connolly to offset the salary being exchanged. Fat chance I know, but as Leaf fans, if we can't dream a little, what else do we have???
- Phenom

Someone please explain to me, and I am asking nicely, why you would ever trade Kadri.

Are Leaf fans allergic to skill?

Or just patience?

WHy do people want Burke to dump draft picks before they get a chance to develop?

Outside of Phil Kessel, who on our roster has a higher offensive upside of Kadri.

Honestly I am getting sick of how Leafs fans only give their draft picks 2 years to turn in to superstars.

Yeah I did watch the calder cup, I suppose I knew . Remember before the playoffs when Rosehill, Orr and Wilson I think fought those 3 guys at different places on the ice at the same time? That was fun....

Parros, Prust ?

Lupul-JVR-Kessel
MAC-Grab-Kule
Kadri/Prust-Bozak-Frattin
Brown-Steckel-Rosehill

I know JVR isn't a center but unless somebody gets moved... I just don't want to see Bozak there again.

in the 10-11 season, he played his ass off on a crap team, then got injured

pretty crappy way to treat a player IMO

he was not the problem

- homiedclown

actually total class on BB's part could have buried him the minors for this year only paid 3 mill- instead of paying 2 mill and wearning the cap for 2 years!

Why not? Bozak may not be premier talent, but he's steadily increased his production over his tenure here. I have no complaints with him or his play.

I actually think with Browns skating ability and nastiness he could be more suited to a third line role with Connolly and Frattin.

He'll do fine. Who knows? Maybe Lupul will be moved...who knows what he'll be asking for next year? Cripes, even Kessel. Ugh, it might be real ugly in a couple years.
- weirdoh

Is this a real opinion?

Burke will resign both playes, do not doubt it for a second. I am 100% on this.

The only thing worse than when Leafs fans eat their prospects alive is when they prematurly trade their stars because they might have to pay them? You know its not your money right?
