Well he's gotten rid of 1/3 of the dead weight. And IMO, he should be focusing on getting rid of the other 2/3 rather than waste his time with trades or UFA signings.
And I'd rather our third line this year be the kid line:
Frattin - Colborne - Kadri - Pen15
WHy would Kadri be on a third line? This is a kid with some of the best hands and passing skills in the NHL. I just do not by the narrative that this kid is a failure. I do not know why Leafs fans eat their own with such a complete lack of perspective. Last year he really took his game to a new level on the Marlies, backchecking, playing without the puck etc. I think he could be a very pleasant suprise this year and be part of the most talented tops six forwards the Leafs have had in decades - Kessel, Lupul, Jvr, Kadri, Graobb, ?
Also, Colborne is starting the year in the minors, no matter what and the expectations for Matt Frattin are completly unrealistic. He projects as a 20 goal third liner at best. |

He'll do fine. Who knows? Maybe Lupul will be moved...who knows what he'll be asking for next year? Cripes, even Kessel. Ugh, it might be real ugly in a couple years. |

Malicious disease called "Cannotplayitis". Can't have him fraternizing with the team, it's contagious. |

Parros ended Orr's career...Orr's a punching bag... He got knocked out cold a couple of times and that was it.. Burke wouldnt have done that whole PC if he was ever planning on callin him back up. If he recalls him maybe someone will take him, but Parros knocked Orr out, who would you rather protecting your team |

I don't think they will go overboard, plus with the extra cap room it won't be all bad. I can see 6 mill per year because of the Grabvoski thing which is gross but affordable. |

You would hope....but who knows with incompetent regime. - Fakepartofme
Incompetent regime? LOL Larry. I just cannot look at this roster, the youth, the potential and do anything but marvel at the fantastic job Burke has done, especially when fans of the team say things like this and actually believe them.
I mean, JVR for Luke Schenn? Luke "what is a puck" Schenn? They should call him Brian "NHL '12" Burke beause all of his trades seem fake, they are so ridiculously lopsided. |

2 completely different players...someone like TooToo would take time from someone like D'amigo whos ready or Frattin.. Hes a guy you hope can play on 3rd line...Parros is a fighter, hes one of the best too. Just having him makes the rest of the team 6" taller....and he went to Princeton hah - Leafsrulesens

JVR slots on the second line nicely. He gives Grabovski room to manuver, thanks to his large frame. If the Leafs can find another go to the net type, for the second line, that 2nd line could be a very effective weapon. Add a decent 1st line centre, for Kessel and Lupul, preference with size, and there is the makings of a good one two punch. The third line would be very good too, with Kulimen, Bozak and Frattin. That would constitute the trading of MacArthur and Kadri, plus a defenceman and a prospect. That would be the pieces needed to either grab a centre or another top 6 winger. Now can Burke make these moves, without gutting what he already has? |

Lupul seems like he'd be okay with a reasonable pay raise if his play continues at his '11-'12 season pace (which he'd deserve IMO).
Kessels' probably too nervous to ask for more money. He doesn't want Burke to grill him. I mean grill most literally. |

I didn't think Orr was punchdrunk I knew he had that one bad concussion but figured he recovered. Still your making it seem as if Orr is softy, he was one of the toughest fighters in the league. I'd rather have both personally |

This is what's wrong with the majority of leafs fans....they say they want a real rebuild but have zero patience to let a stay-at-home dman develop. He won't be near his potential for another 2 maybe 3 years.
He's 23 and people think he should be logging 22+ minutes a night. |

It's a risk/reward thing I guess. They'll have to see Lupul put another season up like he did last year. Him and Kessel were the lone bright spots for the Leafs, Gardiner was a nice surprise but not on the level of Kessel and Lupul. They needed each other which was pretty evident when Lupul went down but credit Kessel to keep the ppg pace up. I don't buy this bs that the coach and Lupul hate each other. They're grown men and I highly doubt they'd let that ruin the product on the ice. I'm sure Burke would even tell Carlyle to stop (frank)ing with the lines and put Lupul back if something happened. |

I have to disagree. I am not in any way sold on Colborne. I have a feeling he'll never be an NHL top-6. i could be wrong, but I think they should package him in a deal now while he still has some prospect value.
If things work out well and we're able to snag a #1C & the likes of Shane Doan, I'd like a 2nd & 3rd line of
JVR Grabo Doan
Kulemin Bozak Frattin - Phenom
WHile I agree Doan is a nice fit, Colborne played much of last year with a wrist injury. HIs mixture of size and skill is extremely rare. I do believe that eventualy he will be an NHL player. Trading him would be so dumb. |
