His GM from the khl said so? Solid evidence... And even if true. Let him go back, who cares.

We really want to act like that's a rare kind of player? You can find those guys everywhere.. And they actually come with skill. The amount of 20 year old kids that have gone to the marlies to structure their game, and the one guy that's gonna come straight to the big club, is the 21 year old pest from Russia. Sounds good.

Steckel is exactly what's wrong with this team. Another big soft talentless forward that struggles on the backcheck, and his coverage game is non existent. But, he wins face offs, and having a 7 foot stick makes him an allright penalty killer on one of the worst penalty killing teams in the league. That's like being the smartest kid with downs syndrome. Easily validated to be the first guy back in leaf nation..

We already have komarov and steckel. I'm just pumped to be able to draft in the top 3 with that mentality.

Meh Steckel ain't bad for where he's at. Not a huge huge fan, nor do I think he's the most ideal 4th line center, but at his price, and his FO%, he's not a bad option. Also for being the same size as Colborne, and since Colborne is god awful in the dot. You just put those guys together for hours on end until Big Joe gets it.

there's no problem with a 4th liner going straight to the NHL...

Steckel isn't the problem with our PK, our goalies don't help, and the fact that we only have 1 PK specialist in Stecks doesn't help either

Steckel is a hard worker, and hits people... and he isn't meant to have "talent"... not all 4 lines need to have 30 goal scorers

- cor99

Steckel is a pk "specialist" on no other team in the NHL than the leafs. That's really all there is to it.

I guarantee carter Ashton is better than komarov right now, and through his entire career. And even he belongs with the marlies.

What about frogen? Remember him?

Oh yeah... What was the reason we signed him? To iron Toskalol's Mickey Mouse shirts and polish his loafers?

Yep.. Wallin, frogren... Even reichel and renberg. Should be scared when the leafs pluck people from overseas that no one cares about and tries to convince people they're legitimate.

Halak would be perfect. I pony up a big MacArthur, Gunnar, kadri, 2nd type package for the blues to turn down... Just to say I did.
- joel878

I'm not sure where people are getting the idea that Halak is available? Elliot will be available. They will trade Elliot x1000 before the even consider Halak. You could tell they desperately wanted Halak in net over Elliot in the playoffs.

It's probably better that he goes to a market the rest of the league forgets about after Draft Lottery day considering the Brad Richards type nonsense he pulled... His life would have been uncomfortable in Toronto...

They are perfectly timed together, if you really want a comparison of how to build a team. You got the tankers in Edmonton (although I think 3 times is excessive) vs. the Leafs and rebuilding through trades, free agency, and developing players.

For sure.
Longest playoff drought.
No cup since 67. Mediocre for the best part of 40 years.
Bleak future in relation to a team with yakupov, nuge, hall, eberle, schultz

I agree, sounds very uncomfortable

Yep.. Wouldn't argue it for a second. Just think Halak would be a great fit on the leafs.

Then again.. So would Crosby ...

To be fair, he was actually drafted... He's not just a free agent signing.

Can you imagine, if this team flourishes, and within 3 years, they're all going to want the huge contracts. They'll have to pull a Pittsburgh and let one of their top picks go elsewere.

One other thing: Would you do a Jake Gardiner for Taylor Hall trade, even up? They get another great young defenceman, on the rise and the Leafs get their number 1 center. We could absorb the loss, if Rielly turns out to be the real deal.

Yeah he is.... he isnt bad at all, and having a guy that wins the most faceoffs in the NHL, on your PK, is a great thing.

He the problem on our PK.... and im not sure why you dont like him

I Think the monster is a better goalie without Wilson and allaire. Wilson's speciality is destroying confidence, and allaire (frank)ed with his style .. But agreed in the end.

Because he's soft, slow, and a liability. Other teams love seeing him on the ice.

He makes the 4th line on maybe 1/4 of NHL teams. Honestly.. He's not very good at all.

Gardiner's value should be way below Hall's. Leafs do that in a second.

Yes, I would do that trade...
