Everybody will end up in TO, or at least on the team rosters posted in here.

So it is agreed that the Leafs won't sign anyone worth signing, but will overpay 2-3 guys to play on the 3rd or 4th lines?

Pretty win win for us Robin, and the biggest win of all was that he didn't go to Vancouver

Now for all the Oiler fans to peg him as the next coming of Coffey Kid is going to be good, but my expectations is he will fill the hole that Gilbert left. Eventually will be better, but when and how much is up in the air.

It won't matter how much money he offers. He won't offer anything longer than 6 or so years. So right there that's killed his chance.

Burke has said that his hockey guys have convinced him that his opposition to long deals hurts the team. Doubt he would go far enough to get someone like Parise though

Doan may have other ideas like a championship at this point. Detroit got the cap room?

If only there was some sort of device Burke could use to be outside of the MLSE offices and yet still be able to communicate with people
- Zezel

Ek mentioned something called a telegram. Apparently his sources send him some sort of message by it. Maybe Burke could somehow borrow the telegram from Ek.

Probably why he isn't sticking around in the office tomorrow then, just let Nonis handle the FA's since he's not very good at it.

UFA's are preparing their presentations for the Oilers tomorrow in hopes they are graced with a contract offer.

Big lineup.

Mgmt has narrowed down their choices to a select few and said free agents will be flying to edm tomo to pitch

The Leafs have more money to spend on July 1 this year than in previous years.

Should be interesting. Parise is in Toronto (where his agents are)... Good sign?

This will be a very uneventful FA. I see us signing maybe 1 bottom 6 guy. Winnick would be a decent pickup. Big, Toronto boy, can play all forward positions; good two-way guy.

Burke: "What! No way! I didnt mean you were a small forward we didn't need I was ju-

Parise: "Wait what? I'm coming to Toronto to take offers from other teams.... just letting you know to have fun tommorow, dont bother stopping by"

I don't think Burke can land any of the big names in the UFA market but he'll try to hit a home run nonetheless with low risk, high reward signings. He got one with MacArthur two years ago and he tried the same with Connolly. That means guys like Penner will be on his radar. But just because they're 2nd tier UFA, I don't think that means they'll be cheap. The UFA market is all about overpaying.

I think a few short term deals to low risk, high reward players is what Burke will end up doing, especially if he can't put together a trade to make this team better.

Chicago makes perfect sense. So does Pittsburgh. There are a few contending teams out there that have just enough space to add a guy like him. Same with Ryan Whitney. Veteran complimentary player looking for one last go at glory.

Brodeur, Semin; there are a handful of top tier players who will hit the market.
