Like i said earlier, right now Komi is the only physical player on back end. And other than Brown maybe the toughest guy on a soft team. At 4.5 or whatever, its actually not bad when you consider what other d men sign for now and Komi is a leader of which leafs have none...
This might be a year where Komi is effective for the team. Bottom 2 min, but a guy who plays nasty and fights..and wasnt terrible under limited time under carlyle - Leafsrulesens
I'm on the same page, I can see him getting too many minutes though But if he plays good then that won't be so bad

Well Connolly will probably be on the IR for 40% of the season and perhaps a sucker GM will take Lombardi... we're stuck with Komi... I hope he plays well - SofaKingBored
you can move both, youd just have to pay for it like Nashville did with Franson... There will be a couple of teams that will be struggling to meet the floor who will figure these guys just couldnt deal with Toronto market but will play well in Phoenix or Florida. Im sure more so Lombardi than Connolly..
GP G A P +/- PIM PP SH GW S S%
REGULAR SEASON 70 13 23 36 -14 40 2 0 3 104 12.5
for 4.75... no thanks
Buuuuut...its an expiring deal, so if leafs took back a contract with term that makes him a little more appealing |

It's tough to see Armstrong go but it is the right move, I'm not too sure anybody would have traded for him, we will see if he is taken off waivers. Then again the team might just wait to sign him for cheap. I don't really see how the cap hit for 2 years at 1 mil per year works though since he makes 3 mil a year, but I never really got buyouts.
That is one of the 4 gone. I really want to get rid of Connolly and Lombardi yet. Komisarek I wouldn't mind staying, he had his best season as a leaf last year and we lost a lot of grit in Schenn. - maverickJ
Ya with Schenn gone, the leafs need a player to step up and be that pylon that forwards walk around. Komi seems primed and ready. |

I'm sure that Burke knows that we've lost more grit and it needs to be replaced. I think the opening up of space on the cap, is a pre-cursor to another trade or UFA signing. He may not be able to add grit to the back end, but may instead add it to the bottom 6, to compliment his top 6. |

He'll probably play bottom pair minutes and penalty killing minutes. At least if he kills penalties, he won't be caught up-ice and won't be exposed to the breakouts, that people like Kessel try to exploit. |

Why do I have the feeling George Parros will be a Leaf tomorrow?

To me its clear Burke is clearing guys out because he intends on bringing in some bigger nastier guys... Komarov will be over, whos not big dont get me wrong, but hes a rat/pest (ppl will say meh, but this team needs another tucker type) maybe Parros gets signed. I imagine hes looking to make a trade for a skilled powerforward for top 6.
I dont know what exactly, but when Burke says (because we all felt the same) it made him sick watching the team get pushed around and not push back, or how little they protected each other, i believe him. |

May as well leave the dust there, with his injuries it'll be collecting a lot of it. |

That would work, That is what I see happening as well. I don't like that our D is the softest yet though. I wouldn't mind seeing the return of the Sheriff, Colton Orr. Prust would be sweet, Kamorov doesn't exactly have size but he is an agitator. |

in order for komarov to be effective orr or parros will have to play.
of course im only guessing, maybe at 5'10 190lbs he might be able to handle himself |

Crappy way to treat a player? Wtf? Sure buddy...He was injured more than he played and this gives him the freedom to find another option for his career.. Its a business.. - Leafsrulesens
I always wonder why people say things like "crappy way to treat a player" When you pay a guy 3 million dollars every year, you do not give a crap about his feelings. |

I'm sure that Carlyle took the time to guage his roster, going down the back-stretch, at the end of the season. He knew who he could use and who the dead-weight was. Him and Burke have probably drawn up a plan, on how to implement the team that Carlyle will require to succeed. The draft brought us more defencemen into the system. Now free agency will plug some of the holes. The one gapping hole is centre. This will require a trading of some assets, to upgrade the 1st line position. JVR is not a true option. |

2 completely different players...someone like TooToo would take time from someone like D'amigo whos ready or Frattin.. Hes a guy you hope can play on 3rd line...Parros is a fighter, hes one of the best too. Just having him makes the rest of the team 6" taller....and he went to Princeton hah |
