I think thats the point of trying to sign any awesome player, regardless of position; you cant wait for the one you want because you dont know if you'll be able to get him... So offer whoever is available, and build strength at that position, then you trade from that position to fill the one you're weakest at, with someone who doesnt have a say where they go. Its like drafting BPA.

Well, we can only hope morale is higher to start the season, and the new system is in place.

Unless Burke can swing some big trades, or waives some more vets, don't expect a very different team. Nonis already said they were just looking at depth guys, and the most interesting one is already off the table.

The biggest change we can hope for is a different style of play, and less-concussed goaltending, though equally, if not more, inexperienced.

I couldnt disagree more. For one, With JVR and Kadri joining the top two lines, our top 6 forwards are exponentially improved. Secondly, with the deletion of Lombardi, Steckel, Komiserik, Armstrong and probably Maccarthur, our team is going to look very different. Plus, we will either have Bernier or Lunongo in net, a couple of new D's (Holzer, Blacker maybe) and a new coach, the team is going to look vastly different.

There is just no way the Leafs will begin the season with the team they have right now. I can guarentee everything written in this post to. Wait and see.

In a straight up trade, Burke would not give up Kessel for Getzlaf. Its really silly when people suggest moving Kessel or Lupul, they are not going anywhere, under any circumstances.
