I have yet to read anything that resembles a coherent argument as to why this kid shafted Anaheim and decided at the end of the day to play for the Oilers... hell I'd think the same way if he chose the Leafs.
On one hand you have a team with 3 legit stars up front in Southern California and room on d for him to play top minutes and prove himself. On the other hand you have Edmonton. - Mr_Smokey
What's bizarre is how excited this kid was to play for Anaheim at the end of the season... then like a month later he basically won't return their calls... Something smells like an old whore's box after 3 steamy poops and a 5 mile jog... know what I'm sayin? |

So I guess this means Burke will sign Oli Jokinen tomorrow and that will be that...
another rough year
oh well hold on to that draft pick Burkie! |

There are no words to describe how much I despise Komi as a hockey player.
Just awful
If we could swap Komi for Bouwy we damn well do it. - AngryWhiteMale
Humpty Dumpty surely does make some god awful signings but would he make such a bad trade? |

The Ducks have Fowler and Sbisa. It boils down to ice time. The money that all the teams were offering was pretty much the same. It's all about getting to play in the NHL, full time. The Oilers gave him the best opportunity to do that. |

@CraigJButton: Justin Schultz is the real deal IMO. A great 'coup' by the Oilers.

Not even mentioning that Bouwmeester plays against the opposing teams top pairing for pretty much every shift and gets 22+ mins a game. |

I'd rather we pay an extra two mil per for the next couple years for a guy who at least earns a damn roster spot.
Komi was in the pressbox because he deserved to be there |

Crappy way to treat a player? Wtf? Sure buddy...He was injured more than he played and this gives him the freedom to find another option for his career.. Its a business.. - Leafsrulesens
also rids them of a professional contract - which I believe Burke needs - particularly if he's got some deal cooked up to take on some else's bad contract in the 2 for 1 type situation... lots of RFA contracts to add/re-up etc.
BUT... why Armstrong - ahead of the likes of Connolly and Lombardi. They played more games - but are in no way suitable for third or fourth line duty.. and I've said it before - will say it again...
if Komisarek, COnnolly and Lombardi are in the line-up - they are taken roster spots away from young players who need to develop.
Komisarek's contributions - easily replaced by Holzer
Connolly and Lombardi - easily replaced by Colborne, Kadri and or a couple of others.
Not to mention that the three account for more than 11 Million against the CAP. |

Those who were in the room say Oilers new coach Ralph Krueger was incredibly impressive in his presentation to Justin Schultz.
I could have been incredibly impressive in my presentation to Schultz if I had the openings in D that the Oilers had. - weirdoh
Krueger: Basically Jeff, we've got 100 minutes of defensive ice time per game we need to fill... so... If you want, you can play the full 60.

oh so would I....but give the FA signings Burke has made in pervious years it's exactly the type of thing that would happen. |

Yeah it's all his fault...I think it more had to do with the forwards not being able to generage enough offense, but I could be wrong. |

Gotta love Berger; as soon as its clear Schultz won't be coming here, he says he woulda been Toronto's top Dman. |

Bouwmeester would cost more than Komisarek but the different in talent is unmistakable. Komisarek is a healthy scratch while Bouwmeester leads his team in ice time. He's underachieved but would be a significant upgrade over Komisarek. |

Because, those guys are more expensive to buy out, and play often enough that they might have some value.

If we were to start the season tomorrow leafs line up probably looks like this ( some Toronto rfas included)
Lupul-Bozak-Kessel
JVR-Grabovski-Kulimen
MacArthur-Connolly-Frattin
Komarov-Steckel-Brown
Lombardi, Rosehill
Phaneuf-Gunnarsson
Gardiner-Franson
Liles-Holzer
Komisarek
Reimer
Scrivens
Possible call ups Colborne, Kadri, Ross, D'Amigo, Mikus
To me the third line is a mess, top line centre, second pairing D is weak and need some help in goal. I wouldn't lose any sleep if MacArthur and Franson were traded. - bcoop
Can we start writing these that don't include Komisarek, Connolly and Lombardi - and just include your choice of the "possible call" ups...
if BB is "aggressive enough" to buy out Armstrong , maybe he'll be smart enough to get rid of (in particular Komisarek and Connolly). |
