Thanks for the jokes Army but dude you were a bust in Toronto and it looks as though Toronto is making space for a UFA but I would have waived him to the Marlies for a season to see if he got his game back all the while not burning a hole in the cap yet again as we have with Tucker still being paid out. With all the rumours out there Doan seems to be on the Leafs target while Parise and Nash may have too high of a price I certainly hope the Leafs land both one by UFA and the other by trade where we see a couple of contracts go the other way. With Burke he doesn't do anything that would circumvent the NHL but he's circumvent the Leafs success in a drop of a dime.

I've never seen Shultz play, but i'd be shocked if he can be as good as Gardiner was in his first full season.

I understand the aspect of adding another stud on the blue line for free but realistically he wouldn't even see time up with the Leafs for a couple years. Wasted talent here IMO.

Peoples expectations of Dion are a little skewed. He's an offensive defenseman with a hitting game. He's not going to be great on defense, he is prone to getting beat outside, and sometimes will lose position in the defensive zone sometimes due to going for big hits, sometimes from just not thinking the game correctly. That said, he still had a solid year last year, and I found it hilarious when I was listening to the radio and they were talking like Dion was having some terrible year, yet he was still top 15 in points and scored double digit goals. I still don't believe he should be the captain, but they really have no better option at this point. Overall he's always going to have defensive warts, but he's still an above average offensive defenseman that can make some bone-crushing, game changing hits.

Except he stopped making bone crushing hits, and he doesn't score enough to offset his defensive blunders. He plays lazy in his own zone, lets people walk from the corner because he doesn't want to initiate contact with them.

How many fricken Leaf rosters was he on i the past few weeks around here.

Thank God Armdog is finally gone and we added some more cap space.. I understand why Burke bought him out... we have at least 4 bad contracts between armdog(3M), lombardi(3.5M), Connolly(4.75M), and Komi(4.5M). He bought out armdog because he is the lowest out of the 4. Most likely connolly or lombardi will be sent to the minors unless someone is willing to take lombardi if anyone acquires shane doan. Most likely if no teams are interested, we will have no choice but to go into the season with 1 or 2 of the players left meaning we will have one of komi or connolly or both next season on the roster team.

Well from what Ive been reading in the Leaf threads, when he was on the Leafs, he already is better.

Burke wanted him but took Gardiner cause the Ducks wouldnt move him.
