haha i know. i get where people come from when they say he'd be in a deal to get say a getzlaf, but the price is more then just kadri, which makes it harder to justify. give him a chance, he may surprise them

Yes I can. He is our best player. The guy is a total beast. I dont care what anyone says, for a guy playing 26 minuts on a horrible team he was flat out amazing last year.

i get what you mean but why give up on a guy before we see what he can really do for a full season? not only that, it will cost more then just kadri to land this solid player that fills a problem. realistically, if we wanted getzlaf it would cost kadri, our 1st and more. just a hard price to pay though getzlaf would be loved as a leaf

Agreed. BUT, in my opinion Schenn as a rookie was even more impressive than Gardiner as a rookie. Plus he was 18. How do you know Gards won't have a sophomore slump? Schenn was great in his third year, our best Dman that year, Leaf fans wanted him in the all star game. Then he tailed off again and everyone wanted him gone.

i never wanted him gone. i have his jersey and loved what he brought to the leafs as a player. the thing is, had he gone back to kelowna for a year and maybe a year in the AHL, he could have developed a more offensive side to his game rather then being just a pure shutdown dman. hes shown flashes of offensive upside, but had he been able to develop that for a year or 2, i bet there never would've been a conversation about him being traded

I'm pretty much on the same page as you. I am a fan of Dion, seriously. But at this point I can't blame those who hate him/want to trade him. As a captain, it would be nice to see him stand up for his teammates and play with more pride. He plays like a coward sometimes. And this whole feud with Schenn thing doesn't make him look too good.

Why do people on here seem to think that any kind of comparison is the equivelent of saying "Kadri will be as good as Paul Kariya" Come on. That is not what I meant in anyway.

Well that's because a comparison is comparing two players. Kariya is a bad comparison for Kadri because Kariya will always be remembered as a 40 or 50 goal scorer.

again i dont disagree, but say getzlaf gets injured, the deal was kadri, our 1st + and now we fall out of a playoff spot and have a lottery pick. anahiem just won kadri (a 7th overall pick) and a lottery pick which could be mckinnon, jones, monahan or barkov and then we could also even lose getzlaf to free agency that same summer

I agree. The guy gets waaaay too much flack. For everything he does right, he gets tarred and feathered for one fcuk up, which happens to pretty much everyone. He's the Captain of the fricken Maple Leafs and that magnifies every mistake by a thousand. The guy is so overrated that he's actually underrated, if you know what I mean.

No chance it's lottery with a true "premier center". I get it though, it's a risk. No one ever won anything without a calculated risk my friend.
