If you think Tallon would trade a 1st round pick... make it a 2nd and Garrison's rights.

EDIT: Bjugstad, a 2nd and Garrison's right.

- Panthers88

That'd work because it looks like the Canucks lost out to Schultz. How much money does Garrison want?

I don't see why everyone is bashing the whole Gretzky/Lowe phone calls. Smart move by the Oilers IMO. I'm sure they just told him what it was like to be on a young talented team that can grow together in a hockey mad market. Big deal people.

Am I wrong? Forget the holier than thou speech. Do you see either of those two teams making the playoffs in the next 5 years. I have TOR dead last this upcoming year. Even if you did draft the #1 pick over all with Rielly ,I still don't see a playoff this year.

Now if they had a proven goalie that could win games............

Honestly, I find that Gretzky and Coffey calling Schultz hypocritical since they both didn't retire as Oilers.
- DariusKnight

Gretzky was pumping tires for LA Kings two weeks ago. He goes whereever someone pays him to go.He is so in love with Oilers that he want to be part of LA management

People keep reporting it's the Rangers and Stickland said it's the Oilers or Sens. I'm just trying to set my self up for a disappointment.

5 years? haha wow you do know absolutely nothing about hockey. Plus, their is always Columbus to fix any shot of being last.

And yes Burke's public comments are ridiculous at times.

If Shultz does not want to play a playoff game inthe next 5 years ,then Leafs and Oilers are the team to choose.
- VANTEL

that maybe true... but is a slim choice between and that - and not winning a playoff round "when your on the self-proclaimed best team in hockey"

Strickland just said it's down to the Oilers and Sens.....what a douche. Grows up a fan of the team than all of a sudden chooses a rival.

So this means Oiler fans MIGHT love this kid again? Oh the ups and downs.

Wow. How's the trolling going Esplen? You made absolutely no point as to why he won't sign in Edmonton. "because other guys have turned it down" give me a break. That was before we had hall, ebs, nuge and now yakupov. Let me tell you why he won't sign in van.

What you think is your greatest asset is maybe your greatest flaw for him. Your window to win is closing. Schneider is good but you haven't seen him play 40 out of 45 games yet in the NHL. Sedins are older and Kessler has had some health issues. This has to be your year or else the window could shut for awhile. Do you think Gillis could promise Shultz a spot in January if the kid is struggling big time. I doubt it. What happens if he has a bad 10 games does he get passed in the depth chart, probably. In Edmonton, he can grow, he can make a mistake and learn from it, he can have a bad stretch of games and fight through it. Factor in the high octane fab four and schultz on the 1st pp plus he'll get alot of 5x5 time. The kid could sign in Edmonton. At the end of the day he will do what's best for his career. There is a very good chance what's best for him is Edmonton.

The entire close to home thing is ridiculous, Edmonton is a 60 min ride on a plane. His parents could fly there as much as they want. Btw, about your Gretzky and Coffey shot, at least we honor our truly greats, we're a proud fan base of what those guys did for Oilers hockey. You think Bure would step up and talk about his pride as a Canuck, don't bet your life on it.

So if he wants to play a couple playoff games and get knocked out in the first round then van it is..Your pretty cocky considering your team was a fav to win the cup this yr after getting knocked out in the final last year..

You know.. I get a kick out of Canuck chuckleheads like Ian who think Coffey and Gretz called the guy to talk about the glory years to this kid because you are too damn ignorant to maybe think that they were talking about the RICH HISTORY this team has overall through it's whole existence, and not just a 7 year stretch. And the type of organization this team has and everything tied around that. Sorry, I understand you might not see this because the Canucks don't have a sniff when it comes to this. That's what happens when your team has won jack poop and will continue to do so. You guys had your time in the sun and you blew it, twice.

Maybe instead of bashing the Oilers organization and thinking that no players want to come to Edmonton anymore, you should get some knowledge and brainpower and know what the ^%$# you are talking about. I know, I know.. it's hard, because most Vancouver fans have become like Leaf fans. Think every player wants to go to your team even though you've won jack crap. When was your last cup win again? Oh wait, you don't have one, that's right. At least Leaf fans can say their club HAS a history and tradition behind them being an original 6 team and such. You guys have NOTHING. And in trading away Luongo its only going to get WORSE.

If you still think players have no interest in coming to Edmonton, maybe you should take a read at this link. It's likely a player agent knows more than you EVER WILL.

http://oilers.nhl.com/clu...460&navid=DL%7CEDM%7Chome

Regardless of whether Justin comes to Edmonton or not isn't the point. Personally, how a kid with zero NHL games to his name is controlling this situation is rather disgraceful in my mind. Reminds me of Eric Lindros all over again, hes just not the first overall pick. I don't know if I'd want that type of an attitude in my team's lockerroom and what will the viewpoints on the rest of the players on whatever team that gets him be. Spoiled, rotten, little brat would be my thoughts.

But this constant drivel about players not wanting to come to Edmonton anymore needs to stop because clearly as the link I provided above shows, it's not true anymore.. and nor should it be. There are no other teams in the Western Conference that can boast a young forward group like the Oil have with Ebs, Hall, RNH, and Yaks. I'll take those four over the Sedin Sisters, whine and cry Burrows and dirty Kesler any day. The only team out east to rival this would be Philly and Pittsburgh.

Flap yer lips all you want, you'll be eating crow when this Oilers team is back on top again in another year or two. And oh, btw, if you do your research, we tend NOT TO blow opportunities when we finish first overall. Just sayin.

This is your best comeback? TOR look like an AHL roster. It is filled with leftovers and no goaltending. There are too many holes and will takes years to rebuild.

Columbus are better than Leafs this year . They have goaltending and Murray even though Burke says Rielly is better.

I am not 6 years old, I don't have a "best comeback." I will just let you to continue to speak as obviously either you are just being an idiot or in fact you know nothing about hockey.

Most of Canuck fans are very intelligent and understand the game. There are a few just like some Leaf fans that are idiots. I will let you decide which category you fall under.
