right, and because he is over 35 any contract he signs counts against the cap whether he plays or not correct? If he retires, does he not forfeit his salary?
- 1970vintage

Yes if he "officially" retires he doesn't get paid but his cap hit remains.

Brodeur isn't going anywhere, why ruin a legacy?

Luongo will be on the Panthers tomorrow, Weber will be on the Canucks, Doan will be on the Canucks and Raymond will be on the Panthers.

Don't do this to me Scoob. I'm likely to crack out the beers in celebration just at the mere mention of this possibility.

Wow, wasn't he their 4th line C in the playoffs?
- 1970vintage

He's always been overpayed IMO. He must have a hell of an agent.

He does have a pretty cool nick name. You almost expect him to break out the volley ball, or give a shout out to Maverick.

Ah, well, good for Edmonton. We'll see how this kid pans out. It's always good to add a prospect for nothing, but these offseason prospect derbies have yet to pan out. I suspect he'll be a good player, but probably not right away.

So, anyway, the original point was that it is a way to circumvent the cap, er, floor. Bet they didn't think of that when they created the last CBA.

Agreed. It was a success for EDM and a fail for us, not matter how we might look at it. Still, life goes on. UFA day tomorrow.

If I had to pick one guy I want in Ufa its Ray Whitney. He will only require a 1 yr deal. So you can really overpay and be out of the contract if the kids start pushing next season

If I report a Ref for a good reason will a ref ban a ref, has that even happened before? ( The more you know)

I don't blame Shultz for not wanting to play under AV. I'm sure parents and the home team factor swayed him somewhat... but there have been quite a few unhappy players leaving or on their way out the last few years... new players are typically scapegoats for AV. Shultz's chances at decent ice time was there(if he's capable) now that AV's favourite Dman Rome is gone. Smart move by MG...maybe Ballard gets ice time without Rome here. Got to plan ahead of AV's tendencies.

You're starting to get really f*cking tiresome. Take that tampon out of your vag and be a fan. I understand being a realist and not wearing rose coloured glasses but all you do is complain about a team who's won two consecutive presidents trophies and went to a cup final.

My pick would be Parise in a dream world, but that's not going to happen so I'd settle for Shane Doan.

Why would Doan go to the Habs.....he's at the end of his career he can still go to a team with a huge fan support and win a cup cough cough....Canucks.

RT @JoshuaCooper #Preds and Gaustad agree to 4-year, $13 million deal.

Wow. $3.25m for Gaustad. That's crazy. Career highs of 12 goals and 36 points. 5 fights last year.

I agree, the doom and gloom guys are just as bad as the total homers.

I'm sure the Kings fans weren't that optimistic last summer either, especially after losing out on Kovy and then ending up with Carter instead of Nash in the CBJ trade.
