Let's say you are right, and Florida is in the drivers seat, what would be your offer? Where is the value for Vancouver? Why should they make that trade...
- 1970vintage

Ok, look, IMO, Luongo sorta threw you all under the bus with his "wanting" Florida. You may ask me for a link...well, I can't give you one, but everyone needing a netminder went in a different direction, and now with Thomas and Brodeur lurking, that can't help either. Luongo hurt you guys with his desirable location, he obviously didn't want Toronto, Columbus or wherever else. He could possibly have went to Tampa, they chose another route. So, he kinda put you in this spot. What would WE give to get him, well honestly I don't know, rights to Garrison. If Upshall isn't up to par, maybe you'd have to take him for a salary dump for us. Honestly, we should NOT give much just because you're in a bad spot. If you think you DON'T have to move him, go ahead and start the season with him peering at Schneider while he's on the pine, YIKES! YOU DO have to cut him loose, but Luongo made it rough for you all. Hey man, it's payback, you already porked us one when ya got him the first time!!

Someone gave it a shot.

If Canuck fans didn't argue with Leaf fans this would be one dull site.

What if Gillis sweetend the pot and added a roster player for a decent return.

We have Booth Daniel Higgins Jensen Burrows Raymond and Volpatti that are all left wingers.Instead of playing players out of position one or two can be moved for a better package.

So basically you, as the GM, wouldn't offer anything. Ok, nice dealing with you. It all comes down to whether or not Dale Tallon sees Luongo as an upgrade on what he currently has under contract. If Tallon thinks that he can make the team better by adding Luongo then I'm sure he and Gillis could work out a deal. If Tallon is of the opinion that Theodore/Clemmensen/Markstrom are just as capable of getting the job done then there is not really much to discuss.

Luongo has never publicly stated he wanted a trade, he only said that he would be willing to move if that was the best thing for the team, and his family ties to Florida make it a desirable destination but I have yet to read a quote from anyone directly tied to the situation that says Luongo won't play one place or will only play in another. If he truly wants out of Vancouver then he will have to be willing to play where Gillis finds a good fit.

The fact that there are "hockey fans" out there that still think there is no market for a goalie who has 2 Vezina nominations in the last 4 years, led his team to within a game of winning the Stanley Cup a year ago, has a cap friendly number (enough with the term argument, he's retired in 5-6years) and is a legit top 10 goalie in the league, is frankly laughable.

Not saying we're gonna get high end prospects like Gudbranson or Huberdeau. But there's no reason Lu doesn't fetch some combination of a very good prospect, solid top 9 roster player and a high-ish pick.

Obviously a lot of hoopla today on Shultz, but twitter has been virtually dead on any other possible activity. Strange with only 1 day away from July 1.

Never dude, obviously you are good going into the season with what you have, or a less expensive upgrade, I'm ok with that. Just asking what you thought would be a fair hockey trade from FLA's perspective.

Fans don't make trades, we kick it around. It's a business for the GM's, and when Luongo requested Florida, I think he pigeon holed your team. I don't see too many other options. Hey, Mr. Tallon may prove me wrong. I haven't seen many mistakes though.

Oh yeah it would have been nice to see a 22 year old prospect in Van but I doubt a 22 prospect is going to help Van win the cup. We need a trade top pairing defenceman. The window for the cup is closing quickly. Bring on Suter, and Doan
