VAN is out on Schultz.

I'm curious to know, are they broadcasting this somewhere? Is there a barrel with teams in it and Schultz is pulling the losers out one at a time and announcing them?

I would like to see Shutlz sign with the Oilers and 2 minutes after his announcement Gillis announce that they traded Lu and steal his glory
- VANTEL

That would be special.

I still think we've got the inside track on Garrison, hopefully not for the rumored 5m.

I wonder how open Suter really is in terms of his potential destination?

That price sounds about right. When you have Allen around 4.5 mil and Wideman at 5.2 it falls into place.

Did you read the Canucks's Army post this morning? A good read on past present and future. Talks about Garrison and if you are going to overpay for a player, he is a good bet... http://canucksarmy.com/20...ory-and-available-players

He'll be an RFA at the end of the 2013/14 season, along with RNH. I hope ownership is prepared to spend, because they are going to have some pretty great players up for significant raises.

I'm sure his agent has a lot to do with all of this, and I can't blame the kos for choosing a young and upcoming team like Edmonton especially if they did guarantee him a top 4 spot and playing time. I'm betting MG couldn't even guarantee him a roster spot, which I agree with.

There's a lot of players in the NHL that grew up as Maple Leafs fans living in Ontario, but I don't see a lot of them wanting to got here, just go through the roster and see how many of them are actually from Ontario and its not as much as you'd think. The favourite team thing wasn't enough IMO.

It quoted it as a good move if it can be funneled in with moving Keith Ballard. Good luck with that.

It can be done. If not, we have the $$$ to bury him in the minors.

Gillis won't do that, he's on record saying that he would not waive a player to the AHL because of salary issues if the player belongs in the NHL. He wants this to be a place where players want to come and believe it or not things like that can give an organization a bad rep.

Keith has shown some interest I garentee we can get a low pick for him if not a 3rd rounder at most. Unless he plays like he did in the playoffs this year then price goes high.

For everyone saying that the Oilers are going to be a team of the future,it would have more credibility if they would stop finishing last every year.

Chicago did it with their bus,t I don't see anyone saying bad things about them.

Ballard was a deal made of desperation. I will be pissed if he is still on he team.

We're big Jason Garrison fans around here, and while his goal totals from last season are a percentage driven mirage, if you're going to "buy high" on a player: Garrison is the right guy to do it with. Yes his offensive output is unsustainable, but he's posted excellent underlying numbers for two years in a row. Beyond that he's exceedingly versatile, something Vancouver has lacked on their blueline over the past two seasons. In 2010/11 Garrison played on Mike Weaver's left side, and the twosome were one of the leagues single best shutdown defensive pairings. In 2011/12 he played a more offensive role on Brian Campbell's right side. Garrison is not a 5 million dollar defenseman, but if the Canucks paid him that much and shipped Keith Ballard out - that would be a big net win for the team.
- Thomas Drance

I think the gist of this is that overpaying players in a weak FA market is not generally a good idea, but if you had the budget to add him, Garrison is likely to continue his improvement. Moving Ballard is the cherry on top.

Personally, I liked Garrisons play, and yes he made strides. However, I credit his time with Campbell and even Jovanoski as a huge benefit. To say his POSSIBLE firther improvement is "likely" is a stretch. If he was younger, if he wasn't passed over by virtually everyone years ago I could agree. This a real stretch for 5 mil per. That being said, when Tallon offered 3.5, I didn't think that was gonna get it done as well. So, he probably thought he wasn't going to gamble on that thought process either.

To be fair, when 26 teams show interest in you, it's tough to please everybody.
