Anytime a player says they're gonna test the market, that translates to, "im gonna see who's gonna pay me the most".........which wasnt gonna be the isles. Once that was said, he should have been outta here.

Did PA say he was leaving during the season?

Or did he want to wait until after the season ended to discuss it.

Kinda like Nabby.

Plus you can't discuss a contract if the player is not on your team.

It goes both ways.

Garth offered him a contract.... PA wanted more money and a longer term.

PA was nothing before he got here.... and will be nothing more than a 50 point man maximum next year.

Tavares and Moulson made him alot of money today.

Isles need a top six player to play with Tavares.

They need to make Tavares happy now!!!

- jimmc7722

Hate to burst anyones bubble, but Brad Boyes is basically taking over PA's spot on JTs wing.

No PA didnt say he was leaving, but if he wanted to stay they would have worked out a deal during the season..........thats just how it goes. If not, that means the players looking for the most money.

I really hope people arent upset that PA Parentheau is not an islander.
- kindlyrick

Yes losing a guy for nothing that put up more points in a season than any islander outside Tavares in five years should sit well with isles fans.

It's Garth snows biggest mistake and if team doesn't replace him then we can count down to draft party again.

Brad boyes is not the answer at all

I don't mind the Boyes signing - low risk with a cheap pricetag. All in all, you could put Andy Hilbert beside those guys and he'd still get 40-50 points! Yeah I said it, Andy Hilbert. My most hated player of all time and quite possibly the reason I got this ulcer.

Not trading was a mistake yes, but losing him for me isnt really a big deal. His ice will be replaced, and playing with Tavares will make the right player better. Brad Boyes may or may not be the answer, but the guy did score 43 goals one year. That means something.

Tavares will want somebody to play with this year.... Garth has to make the trade or break the bank.

The Isles added depth... no talent today.

They can't go into the season with this line up!!!

More work will be done!!!

I don't mind it if it's to be a 2nd or 3rd line player. Plugging him in p.a. spot is unacceptable.

is Moulson all of a sudden chopped liver? Moulson and Tavares are the duo - whoever else joins their line is just along for the ride. In all honesty, Nino should have been riding shotgun with MM and JT and he would have racked up some points and got some confidence. Hopefully the Isles have realized bringing in a rookie and pairing them with Marty Reasoner and Brian Rolston is a giant development (frank)ing fail.

Doesn't matter who is on this team, with Capuano running the show we're (frank)ed.

They're talkin on the NHL network about how teams are gonna front load with Parise and Suter to the tune of 14 million the first year (maybe the second). Under this collective bargaining agreement, teams can pay 2 million in salary and 12 in bonus. 14 million a year is CRAZYY, so anyone with any hopes of the isles getting either of these two, it aint happenin. If top teams are willing to pay these guys 14 shmill the first two years, there's no way they would chose the isles.

He did a long time ago. Boyes could be a great addition as a secondary scorer. Say he is on first line, does Neilson, grabner and okposo really cut it as a 2nd line in that division ? Especially when you have boyes coming off of two very poor years

Boyes is a one time 40 goal scorer... I'd say it's a good gamble. Sure he did it four years ago and has 40 total goals since but let's see what happens. Without risk comes no reward right. I like this move.

Disagree. Niño was awful and never deserved more minutes. The guy is lost at the NHL level currently

That Nielson, Grabner, Okposo line had some moments.......but unfortunately this is what the isles bring in. Guys who'll come cheap.........its all about value players for Garth.

Amen. Isles have the pieces to make an impact move. Now is the time. Especially if they add another vet dman they will be able to move a young dman and a forward prospect or two.

with the team's uncertain future, no player will commit long term so the only players Garth can attract are players looking to make a comeback or something to prove. By the time the Isles get their poop in order, Parise will be retired.

refer to my sign Jokinen and Semin post!!!

Not sure what Snow and Co. have in store for Strome. I watch him play for the Ice Doggs and I've spoke to him a couple times and he really thinks he has a shot this season at cracking the lineup. If he does, I would think he's penciled in for the second line center slot.

Back to Jokinen and Semin, WHY NOT?!?!? Sign em and see what happens.

I cannot blame the Isles if they did not want to pay that money. Make a strong offer for Ryan or another top 6 forward.
