I loathe the boyes move. If he plays on the bottom 6 I'm cool with it but he is rolston part two.
Need a number 2 center and a top 3 forward. Letting p.a. Walk is a huge mistake. That contract isn't that crazy he got especially when we have four miles to go to get to cap floor. Staple tweeted 2 weeks ago that isles offered p.a. Less than 3 mill per year - Isles316
If they offered less than 3 they are clueless and makes Snow not trading PA even worse. I do not like the Boyes move either. Isles still need to make moves. Decent start today still need an impact move. |

I agree. I only bring him in on a short term deal. I hope the Isles use trades to add more pieces. |

Semin might put up great numbers on that first line. We still have to spend $7 mill to get to floor - Isles316
$7 million is only if Nino is on the team. So close to 10 assuming he's in BPT. Still have to sign Martin but that shouldn't be more than 1-1.5. Still leaves 8-8.5 to reach current floor. |

I keep hearing the Isles can get to the floor with the current players. Hopefully that is not true and they need to bring in more players. |

Great deal for him & great player for them.
Snow should have gotten SOMETHING for him at the deadline... epic fail.
I love every move Snow has made & not made over the last few years.. but that one is just a complete bed crapping.
PAP is going to make him look silly over the next 4 years.

Isles will have to trade for a top 6 player and a top 4 defenceman if they don't act soon.

This was the article in the NY Post...I think they are done signing defenseman. I do thin they will try to get a wing for Tavares.
Isles GM Snow's free-agent pursuit won't be easy

The job in front of Islanders general manager Garth Snow is not an easy one.
Starting today at noon, when NHL free agency begins, Snow will try to overcome the slighted public image of his franchise — with an antiquated arena in the Nassau Coliseum and no long-term plan in place for a new home — and sign players with the potential to help him break the team’s five-year playoff drought.
“We’ll see what comes to us,” Snow said Saturday. “We will try to get something worked out, but there is plenty of time between now and the start of the season. We’re going to try and address our needs and make our calls.”
Snow was not hesitant in saying he knows the Islanders are not incredibly attractive to free agents. Over his six-year tenure as GM, Snow has continued to see new and creative ways for players to spurn his offers.
“Free agents are concerned with the arena situation,” he said. “It’s hard to persuade a free agent with a 5- or 7- or 10-year deal when our lease is up in three years [2015] and they don’t know where they’ll be playing.”
The two biggest free agents on the market are winger Zach Parise and defenseman Ryan Suter, and a point-producing forward and a top-tier defenseman are both needs for the Islanders. Before the draft, Snow traded a second-round pick in the 2013 draft to the Ducks for veteran defenseman Lubomir Visnovsky, somewhat addressing one of those issues.
“I think with Andrew MacDonald, Mark Streit, Travis Hamonic and now Visnovsky, we have solidified our top four,” Snow said. “We expect one of our [prospects] Calvin de Haan, [Matt] Donovan and [Aaron] Ness to make the team. So that’s five defensemen. We still have one hole to fill.”
Though any discussions with a free agent or his representatives before today would constitute tampering, Snow said he has had internal discussions within the organization about all options, and the Islanders have a definitive plan in mind.
“We’ll make our calls only July 1,” Snow said, “and try to improve our team then and throughout the week.”

Visnovsky and carkner are giant upgrades over eaton, mottau, staios,Jurcina crap.
The isles were 28th in the NHL in scoring last year. As of this second, barring a giant breakout year by someone, it's not looking like they are going to finish much different than that. Need a number 2 center so Neilson can slot in as the #3 center and a top 6 forward.
Long shots but with snow doing a good job in acquiring carkner, there is hope he can do the same with semin and/or jokinen. Those two moves put us near the floor and make us a legit playoff possibility. |

There's a first time for everything!
Seriously, I like what he did today. Not great but so far SO GOOD. There is still time and there are some players to be had that will really improve this team.
I'm still high on Bobby Ryan. I really think we can make it happen if we want to . |

Aaaaa, no. Jagr started the season like a banshee. Hot and fast out of the gate But Jagr ran out of gas long before the season ended. I cant see him gaining any more energy this yr while being a yr older. IMO he's going to break down more often and start to struggle before New Years. This is his swan song and I dont believe it will be pretty. |

Garrison to the Canucks on a terribly risky deal. If he's a one year wonder they are screwed and still have to unload luongo and ballards horrible contracts. Yikes. |

You are naming two players for "giant" upgrades over three. We need one more there . Though I see your point, in other words he needs to do more and NO ONE should be satisified thus far. Come on Snow |
