Dubinsky, Erixon, and a 2nd rounder next year. - nfabz
So, your whipping boy who regressed 20 points in the same amount of games; a nice prospect and a late second round pick for an All-Star D-man. LOL. Absent Erixon, what exactly does Phoenix get in that?

Meh, i dont know how to argue with someone who clearly hates this guy. What coach hasnt had run ins with players, and Wilson had some pretty good teams in SJ he couldnt do anything with.. Also this idea renney is so great at developing youth? Like who? Hes so good developing youth that Edmonton doesnt want him around their kids, mainly because he was playing the vets way more than kids... Anyways, only time will tell but this idea that everyone agrees Carlyle and Wilson are the same coach is a joke ..Id like to see others agree
Also Maurice won the cup? really? hmmm... Carlyle is first leafs coach since Clancy to have won a cup as a coach..i think ill give him a shot...
EDIT: im not saying Renney isnt a good coach. But imo Carlyle > Renney...Also Burke has worked with Carlyle and knows they will be on same page, theres familiarity. If Burke is gonna go down, hes gonna go swinging with someone he knows. |

Well then............I guess this debate is over. Bernier > Luongo - LA_Kings6720
Given everything I listed, I would take him over Luongo currently yes, that isn't to say his skills are better but from what I've seen his skills are not far behind luongos, if not on par already... |

Burke job is on the line and he can't afford to take a risk on another goalie but I do agree with you I would rather have bernier |

Until Bernier puts up consistently the numbers Luongo has for the last while, hes not on the same level.
But hes a good young goalie and well see what he does with a chance to be #1. Luongo is a top goalie in the league and only reason anyone might consider him instead of Luongo is the contract. |

Allright man, Carlyle is the next coming of Jesus.
It's an opinion.. And yours is just as factless as mine. If you gathered the impression I was defending Wilson, you're wrong. I hated Wilson. But if you're expecting anything different from Carlyle, you need to give your head a shake. The team he was fired from in Anaheim was 3 times as talented as the one he inherited in Toronto. He has a rocky history with the media, and some players, no different than Wilson. Granted, his systems arent as outdated as Wilson's, but his bs hard line approach has been just as successful as Wilson's since the cup win. The team responded to Carlyle in pretty much the same sluggish losing crap way that they did for Wilson.
It's all good. I'm a leaf fan to.. I can handle blind optimism. |

There has been some stupid sh1t here over the years Ek, but calling Kuba the Sens number 1 Dman tops the list I think.
You might want to take a look and see that other guy over there, you know, the NORRIS TROPHY WINNING defenseman?
I guess Pittsburgh already traded their number 1C to Carolina, and now it looks like Los Angeles' #1 goalie maybe the Leafs plan B.

That is what I just said Personally as a Canucks fan I hope the Kings do not move Bernier...I want there to be ANY sort of market for Luongo...even if its like 2 teams...I do feel like someones going to get Bernier and the other team will settle on luongo, both Florida and Toronto need goaltending, although if i were tallon, I would honestly be going after Brodeur, not Luongo, Brodeur mentoring Markstrom for a year would probably do great things for his confidence and potential...Toronto doesnt have a decent goaltending prospect in their system and need a goaltender signed for a long time to do any good...So Bernier or Luongo would fit better in Toronto... - annoyance_101
Reimer is 23. Scrivens has shown strides capable of an NHL backup job. Owuya has looked like a stud, and garret sparks looks to have a bright future to. Odds are, one of those kids is going to turn out. The leafs are fine for youth and depth between the pipes.
Luongo would be death for the leafs. There's no sense in bringing in a Top of the line goaltender signed into the glue factory, when the team is still 3-4 years away from needing that goaltender. By that point, luongo is 37. It would be sheer insanity to give up assets for that tender, he's better suited in Florida.. Even a jersey type team.
Bernier is only 23, and all signs point to stud. All he needs is the venue. He might even turn out to be better than luongo, and not very far into the future. |

Just gambling hopefully burke doesn't want to finish 8th and get his butt kicked from a kings fan point of view. That statement is invalid. maybe toronto doesn't make it again and the kings get lucky |

hey moron, you might want to take a look at last year's stats in the AHL...
You know, that stats sheet that shows a Leafs prospect with the top GAA and one of the best sv. % last season, who was also the second best goalie in the playoffs... |

According to Ek... any player who tests free agency is putting on a Newport Dog and Pony Sham... which I've never even heard the expression but I will assume he meant show not sham.
Are players not allowed to see what options are available? If you were very good at your job... good enough where companies were head hunting you... would it be so wrong to listen to the offers? These guys deserve a chance to meet with teams and discuss some possible deals. Its been going on since I've been watching hockey... its not like every player drafted signs a life time contract with their team and never leaves. It would make things very very boring. |

At this point i've been sitting here thinking how in gods name Wang is going to spend 8-10 million dollars to reach the cap floor. No one is going to sign here and he needs to spend money somehow. At looking at this list of FAs, I was picturing a Moulson, JT, Jagr line lol. This would never be the case but jagr being centered by JT would be fun. Throw jagr 6 million lol. We need to spend money somehow. |

ive been reading a whole ton all over the web that the leafs were looking at luongo. I agree that they need a goalie, but to me Luongo does not make sense to me. Yes he is in upgrade, but i think his contract would KILL the leafs in the long run. I would not be excited if i were a leafs fan and they got luongo. |

I just think for the cap hit taken with Luongo they can find another goalie and use money elsewhere. Burke likes to spend money. |
