I just heard someone on the radio the pens have strong interest in Prust and Huselius. Prust is a perfect fit but Huselius?
- Magicmanmalkin

Would love to land Prust. A line with him and Adams, with Joey V in the middle is a great grinding/energy line. Tough as nails too.

What is a guess at what Shane Doan could fetch in FA? I ask based on if the Pens can find a way to get Suter, Parise is likely not coming. Could they get Doan with his cost?

The Prust idea is great, but the huseluis idea to me is weird. I mean if people are suggesting semin i guess he comes up too.

It will take over 5M for at least 3 years to get him to leave the desert. You'll have to make it worth his while.

I'm actually surpised Semin doesn't want to go back to the KHL. His perimeter based, non physical game would seem to be a perfect fit, and he could still make a boatload of cash.

I'd love to know how much negotiating with FA's is already going on. When you see guys sign so quickly, how is it possible their agents haven't already spoken with multiple teams to make informed decisions. Anybody have any insight on that?

Im sure there is some indirect talks but not any reall negotiating. I think most players have an idea where they want to go and sign quickly with a team also.

Say we have 14.5 in space, the bolded are the only unsigned positions.

As far as forwards go I think this stills gives us the best third line in hockey. ( not as good as before but still the best. ) And 2 sick (frank)ing lines lets do it.

Figure Niskanen getting 2.5 means we have 12 mill in cap space. If we sign Parise it won't be for less than 7 which takes us to 5.

We could trade Kennedy and that space goes up to 7 which might be enough to sign Suter.

Except then we need to find a 12th forward and we would have no money to upgrade elsewhere or to carry into the season/deadline.

Trade Martin for dirty underwear and we're laughing.

3rd-4th line winger possibilities: Prust, Burrish, Asham, Parros (anyone interested?)

Anyone else you guys would like to add?

Not many good options out there..

EDIT: Taylor Pyatt, Winnik, Tootoo, Avery (anyone??)

I guess there are a few good options to fill out the bottom lines..

i really think vellieux can become like a prust, but id love to see burrish on the team. other than that we dont really need to many guys, unless shero plans on trading anyone or scratching jefferey and adams

I'd take a look at Avery.......the Pens prob need a good man to clean the locker room urinals.

Interesting look at the NHL teams.

Pens lost 200k last year. More playoff games is where they make their money. Bylsma on the hot seat.....absolutely.

Trade TK, Lovejoy and Martin

Add Parise, Suter, Prust and Burrish(or Avery - really)

Maybe re-sign Asham...really like this guy

IF we miss out on Parise or Suter than I'd trade for Setoguchi and sign Allen.

It wouldn't get any more perfect than that. At least one of the big two would be great and I would be very happy. It will be a real letdown not to land at least one of them though especially after all the talk about the Pens making a big splash. However, if they don't then I think Shero does have a deal up his sleeve.

Suter, Hannan, Parise, and Prust. Then trade Martin, Strait or Bortuzzo, and TK to Edmonton for Paajarvi and Hartikainen. Crazy idea but hey, we all have different ideas

I hope Shero has enough cell phone minutes to complete all those transactions.
