That is why this past playoffs were so hard to take. You can excuse them for 2010 & 2011, but not this year. Maybe like many of us, they thought "we are finally healthy, this should be pretty easy..."
- rival22

I dont know. They got the Flyers right off the bat. Played MAF all season and grinded him out just to try to get the number one seed and avoid the Flyers. It's a tough go when ur backup cant win a game for u all year. You still finish like 4th in the league only to get the 6th best team in the league for round one. Sure they didn't play wonderful, but i have no doubts that they would have got past round one against any other team.

Bylsma hasn't had a decent lineup in years? I can see saying that in the 10-11 but the other two he had more then enough talent to win more then the first round of the playoffs. The goal isn't to make the playoffs its to win in them. I just think that if you have the guys that we have you can't be happy at all when you get kicked out early three years straight and two of those years pretty close to 100% healthy.

The year against the habs, we got HALAK'd. The pens threw everything at MTL, and i mean everything. They dominated the entire series and couldnt buy a break...I remember that series so well and couldnt believe how it played out. But that happens sometimes. You cannot lay that on anyone in the pens organization, sorry. As for the TB series. I felt we played awesome, above our heads and could have and maybe should have won. But, still, not a bad effort at all with that line up!! This year we stunk, sure. But adding Sid back late in the season, and playin MAF to the bone all year, getting the flyers in round one...perfect storm for a pens loss. I just don't see how anyone can lay those three series on DB and say this year he should be canned if things dont go well.

Could we take a shot with Knuble to fill a 3rd or 4th line role.....seems like a really good fit

Per @Russostrib If Parise becomes free agent, he said it's possible teams would meet w him at his agents' offices starting Sun.

This is gonna get ugly (money)

- Orpik44

You are presuming That Parise is a Jagr doppleganger. That may not be the case. There are other reasons to work somewhere besides money. Fans, facilities and team potential are just a few. Relaz.

Not making excuses but in the Montreal series the main players were fried on the Pens. Two straight SCF appearances as well as the Olympic games sandwiched in. The Tampa series doesn't even count in my book, I mean that was not the team, not even close.

This past year, they deserve all the blame they get.

- Gunner Staal

I understand that. He could have been burned out but every other teams star players did the same thing with the Olympics. Not so much the two SCF appearances but we still had Malkin, Tang, Staal and a 50% Crosby. As I said, I understand last year was a exception but even with the injuries Asham lead us with pts in the post season...

I'm not saying he should be fired but if it happens again this year? He is definitely on the hot seat imo.

Let's not forget the way they lost this year. That was a disgrace to get lit up like that. The team looked like they couldn't care less about responsible defense. Every other team played a completely different style 'cept philly who got bounced post-haste in the 2nd. Bylsma needs to make adjustments or c-ya.
- madmike71

Exactly. It just seem like he was to stubborn to change the style of play. We had no success in the regular season against them, you would think a hybrid game-plan would be implemented going into the playoffs at the very least after the first 2 games of allowing the flyers to do whatever they wanted.

I've been there and think the same, though if you drive north up the lake it is pretty nice. They don't seem to have trouble attracting/keeping talent in the Motor City.
- MadCap2008

I grew up in the Burgh, and live here now, but spent my 20's in Michigan. East Lansing, and Grand Rapids are nice. The north country and the upper Peninsula are nice. There are a few areas around Detroit that are nice, mostly suburbs like Grosse Pointe, Royal Oak, Bloomfield Hills, Novi. The city itself, except for a very few select areas is a real turd hole.

The players only drive through the wreckage they don't live there. However, lack of a true center-city might be a bit of a drag for the younger guys. I don't profess to know a ton of their issues up there, but the extent of the blight is shocking. From my side of political views it's not surprising however.....and I'll leave it at that.

Detroit is what Pittsburgh would be if there had been no recovery from the loss of the steel industry. Most the good paying auto industry jobs fleeing for years, and they've never been able to recover.

Well... That's debatable, but I do admit the burgh had some other industries to support the population as the steel industry fled. I also think it's to the credit of the residents that they didn't resort to Mad Max levels through those tough times.

Go check out some of those little towns in the mon-valley like clairton or Hazelwood and see the recovery there......word of advice, go in the day time.

Oh believe me, there are still some depressed areas, Duquense, Mckeesport etc too...but there just aren't huge swaths of empty neighborhoods and gangs like you see in Detroit. Detroit also has to have more litter strewn about than anywhere else I've ever seen in the US.

4 years at $1.8 mil per... not bad at all.

Between the staff he's hired, the draft they had, Marc Bergevin looks like he is doing good things there. We'll see where Price falls, but this is a good signing.

Yeah, that's the thing... Our ground zero was more isolated.....sort of away from the center city. Up there, ground zero is pretty much everywhere (at least that's what I remember). Went up for a Steeler game a couple of years ago and was blown away with what I saw. Have no desire to ever go back honestly.

Interesting to see the Devil's fans talking about how Parise is not an elite talent over on their new board. Sounds like their setting themselves up for the fact that he will be gone.
