I think Bylsma needs a better showing this year regardless of what we do in FA.
- canadianpenfan

Yeah totally agree. He's already on the hot seat. If the Pens look to be under-performing mid way through the season, he should be concerned.

Looking more and more unlikely that Asham or Sullivan will sign in Pittsburgh. If they do, it will come after July 1.

Havent seen anybody pose the question so I guess I will:
Given the recent early exits from the playoffs, if Shero does manage to land Parise and/or Suter(or some other big names via trade)--does this land Bylsma in the hot seat for the upcoming season should the team under-perform?

Hell yes...if we have two top lines with Crosby/Parise and Malkin/Neal you should expect nothing less than a East Conference Final AT LEAST

The Penguins can now offer Parise a wealthy contract, Crosby as his center AND a tropical climate. Tough deal to turn down.

Yes it does. and if he doesn't land them and we fail once again Shero and Bylsma are in the hot seat. Cant get kicked out of the playoffs like we have three years in a row with the talent we have to work with. Obviously this is all my opinion.

I disagree 100% Bylsma hasnt had a decent line up to work with in years, and the man did win the jack adams trophy and the stanley cup within his first couple years coaching. Even last year, was a difficult year on the team with injuries most notably Sid. I am not sure Sid came back in time to really allow DB to work the line up properly and make it gel. Id give him the next two full years before I would consider a change. If the pens cannot get close to the cup again, they may have to look at that time.

Despres is going to play, we all know that. Strait, Bortuzzo, Sneep all need to be given a chance to play or traded because the pedigrees of the next batch of guys behind them are simply better.

Why do you hear Nashville when people talk about Martin? Personally i think he would fit well down there.

If they don't re-sign Suter, then yes... plus they'll need some help getting to the cap floor.

Bylsma hasn't had a decent lineup in years? I can see saying that in the 10-11 but the other two he had more then enough talent to win more then the first round of the playoffs. The goal isn't to make the playoffs its to win in them. I just think that if you have the guys that we have you can't be happy at all when you get kicked out early three years straight and two of those years pretty close to 100% healthy.

It's becoming apparent that Pens are waiting to see what happens Sunday before filling out their roster with 3rd/4th line guys.

Not making excuses but in the Montreal series the main players were fried on the Pens. Two straight SCF appearances as well as the Olympic games sandwiched in. The Tampa series doesn't even count in my book, I mean that was not the team, not even close.

This past year, they deserve all the blame they get.

i wouldn't be upset if we got allen and hannan for cheaper. I really want Mueller though if he would sign a 1 yr, 1-1.75 million deal.

Send Martin to one of these teams for a pick

Phoenix doesn't need Paul Martin. They are set at defense.

That is why this past playoffs were so hard to take. You can excuse them for 2010 & 2011, but not this year. Maybe like many of us, they thought "we are finally healthy, this should be pretty easy..."

And that makes me mad, because alot of those players should have known how easy it is not, given their 2 years of Cup Finals expirience.

Let's not forget the way they lost this year. That was a disgrace to get lit up like that. The team looked like they couldn't care less about responsible defense. Every other team played a completely different style 'cept philly who got bounced post-haste in the 2nd. Bylsma needs to make adjustments or c-ya.

I think it's a system problem. Most teams have it all figured out and that' suxs. Time to try new things.

I've been there and think the same, though if you drive north up the lake it is pretty nice. They don't seem to have trouble attracting/keeping talent in the Motor City.

The players only drive through the wreckage they don't live there. However, lack of a true center-city might be a bit of a drag for the younger guys. I don't profess to know a ton of their issues up there, but the extent of the blight is shocking. From my side of political views it's not surprising however.....and I'll leave it at that.
