Are Saad and Denault contributing pieces on the next SC championship team here - or by the time they get here, will the window on this team be closed? - StLBravesFan
I haven't seen enough of Saad myself to give you an opinion. Same with McNeill. It seems the last couple of games with the Hogs that I caught, McNeill ended up being a scratch for all but one game. I got to see more of Danault that anyone. FredoXV got to see him while the Hogs were out in Ohio. Here's what he had to say:
I saw him play earlier in the year when he was up with Rockford, and he threw his body around quite a bit - in once instance even took a 5-minute boarding major from a catastrophic hit along the benches.
He also handed Danny Richmond his lunch in a nice scrap. I think you'll be pleasantly surpised with McNeill's physicality if and when he makes an appearence in an Indianhead-crested sweater.
Listed at 6'2" 220 and only 19, he's a big boy, and from the small sample size I witnessed, he's already using that frame well. I've got high hopes for this kid - but am not sure where his ceiling is - a top-six power guy or a lower-line banger and grinder. I think he'll definitely play in the NHL at some point, though. |

Was that all it cost for Varlamov? I guess I'm mistaken. |

As a self-diagnosed CC lover. I dont think Bernier is going to fix any problems. Our defensive structure and coverage is the problem. Too many mistakes in our own zone, lack of physicality, poor coverage is going to be trouble for any goalie..JMO - DirtySauce14
I am neither a CC lover nor a hater, but you are exactly right. They must address the lack of toughness up front to maintain possession, and they need grit and a point shot from the blue line to stop the clown shoes and help the power play. |

JJ, I know Im dreaming here but is there any "rumors" or a possibility of shipping nicholas h, to the bolts for malone so we can get rid of him? |

Hockey Buzz Eklund @Eklund
If Marty Brodeur were to test the market" it would be hard to imagine the size of the truck the hawks would back up to pay him for 1 year."
His save percentage has declined the last 4 years. I don't see them backing up the truck(4-6 million?) Do any of you?? Al? JJ? - jimmy33
Consider the "source" and completely out of touch he is with reality. There's your answer.
If the 'Hawks were going to drop some serious coin for a goalie (2x of CC), they would have already done that. And unless things changed, their system and payroll structure wouldn't allow that without other notable concessions. |

Agreed. Forwards that forecheck will help the D corps and if there's less pressure on him, you should see CC's GAA go down. In spite of all this, I still cannot believe those two softies two games in a row in the playoffs. Jesus H.... |

What's up at that store now? Still sporting goods? - djd
Oh man, that's hilarious. Can remember my dad getting PO'd when my sister and I started watching Shindig and Hullabaloo.
Kenesky's - still at the corner of Victoria and Barton. All hockey equipment and team sweaters - all high end stuff. Kenesky 3rd or 4th generation kids still own it. |

I'm with you, buuuuut I don't think Hawks management would do it..Especially since they had him up their selecting their 1st round pick, but you never know...I think the Hawks deal Stalberg now or at the trade deadline..Depending on how Saad develops, but if they think they Saad can replace Stalberg,I see them moving Slick Vik - captainserious
In the end you're probably right. Saad does seem to be Bowman's favorite. |

For what it's worth, I'm pretty high on Danault myself.
If I'm Bowman, and it comes down to Saad being the piece that gets a deal for Bernier done, I'm doing it. - EKolb13
I'm with you.. Long Term Goalie is more imporant.. And from what I have read on the kid, he is someone you want.. And with this years 1st round selection, I would think Saad (who is a winger right?) can be moved without issues. |

Thank you...been saying this all along to many others, albeit not on this board. Tired of hearing soft goal given up. The scheme is the problem. |

Can someone tell me why we're looking to get rid of hammer again? Dollar for dollar, and taking into account what else we're giving up, do we honestly think we're gonna get a better d-man for him? I'd rather have hammer and Garrison or Carle for 8 rather than one Suter at 7, and then go scrambling to find a third pair guy like we did last year. - busmaster
Hammer treats the puck like a hand grenade in his own end with out Campbell, only blocks shots, constantly looses forwards who put in sitters from right outside the blue paint, zero point shot threat, little physicality and substandard gap closing ability
Lots of reasons to unload that contract while they can still get value. Different system he is probably more successful but doesn't fit right now with the Hawks and Suter makes them measurably better and I'm thinking more of a 6-6.5 hit not the 7 that everyone is throwing out there. |

My sense is NYR and OTT are best aligned to put together a package for Nash, but OTT is NOT on Nash's 'prefered' list.

LOL, my dad would look at us in disgust and just shake his head.
If it is not already, Kenesky's should be a historical landmark for Hamilton. |

Didn't know that about the band. Who were the hosts on Shindig and Hullabaloo? You weren't one of those guys dancing in the sports jacket behind Leslie Gore were you? Who the F was her hairdresser? |

Gotta take out #3 then, because then we'd have no defensemen. And Olli Jokinen is the exact opposite attitude this team needs, guy is a cancer. |
