A lot of people were thinking of something like Hammer and Stalberg for Smith and Foligno. Add picks or prospects to even it out - tomcat24
i think the sens are trying to use foligno as part of a package for a bigger name player (ryan, nash, etc), so i can't envision a scenario where they would include him in a deal where stalberg was the return. no offense to stalberg, but i don't really see how he'd help much in ottawa.
would much prefer a straight up smith for hammer deal |

I'll believe SB + Co (and that's how it has to be framed, Stan plus committee) has the stones to be bold when I see it happening. And when it does, if it does, he'll surely get credit. - blackhawk24

What would NJ want to give us for Crawford? Are we talking picks, prospects or something that could help us now? - KillaB917
Looking at their roster and knowing some younger guys won't be moved for obvious reasons, I'd like to see the 'Hawks get the best pick(s) as possible and use the move strictly as a salary dump. This would free up as much as $2.67M for the next 2 years to pay other players. |

Kane is 23 year old, has won a Cup and is probably the best perimeter player in the NHL....His trade value is high and to think otherwise is illogical...That said unless it is a knockout offer he will be in Chgo in Oct.
Babcock on NHL Live yesterday didn't pull any punches as usual.
It isn't a question of if Detroit will sign any dmen on July 1 but more a question of how many. As has been talked about here, Babcock said the Wings left about $6 mill in cap space last season to be set up for this summer.
Also said that without a doubt Helm is the best 3rd line center in the NHL...Pretty lofty praise but maybe he wasn't counting Staal anymore as a 3rd line pivot, then again maybe he was...

I assume you're talking abut HockeyyInsiderr?
i think a lot of teams would like to have a player like Kane, "baggage" (real or perceived) and all. I also believe there have been more discussions between the Hawks and other teams on the subject than some are willing to believe. - John Jaeckel
Yes I was. Lol. I have heard some people say he is credible while most of the others rip him. He did mention what you said about the Habs. But I guess that is common sense. Like you said, I think Kane does have a lot of value around the league still but I can't see Bowman having the guts to trade him. I also see a trade of Hammer being the big splash this summer |

It'd be awesome if we could get a decent return for Crawford, but then who's our goalie next year? It's a slim chance to none that the Kings trade Bernier to a Western team. Unless we offered something like Kane. But that's almost unrealistic. A legit star for an unproven goalie. He has the potential to be very good, but I don't know if he'd ever be that legit star goaltender. Interesting stuff! |

Mr. Holland's Opus.
He'll get Suter and Garrison.

I think the Hawks would like any of those three defensemen, especially Tallinder or Volch, and especially if they deal Hammer but don't get Suter. - John Jaeckel
If Devils sign Salvador I'd happily give up Volchenkov and a pick. |

Done and done and done. Everyone on this board would do that deal so fast |
|

Maybe Tallon would be dumb enough to actually trade for Lou and then would basically be forced to trade Markstrom. We'd be good trade partners |

@DarrenDreger: Martin Brodeur very likely to test free agent market. Brodeur has hired Pat Brisson (CAA) to represent him. Bidders get ready!
Is this why they may be interested in Crawford? |

They've lost 3 of their Top 4 in the last 12 months. I would think rebuilding the blueline is an absolute necessity. Ian White is a nice player but . . . Their best defenseman under contract is a guy who has very questionable knees and is going on 33. After that, the pickings get mighty slim. I have no doubt the Wings will sign some quality blueliners. Suter is the $64,000 question and I think we will know by midnight tomorrow actually how likely that truly is.

I can even see, remote fantasy possibility, the Hawks dealing Crawford to NJ (maybe for Brodeur's rights+) and signing Brodeur for 1-2 years.
