That's 'cause Bowman already re-signed everybody he wants back.

Has any team made a trade so far this week?

- EKolb13

I guess - hope - the big days are tomorrow, Sunday, Monday.

If they're waiting on Suter - who may not commit until the middle of the week - and lse out, won't be anything left to get.

God, would like to see just one aggressive move - a move that says we're in this to win and we're going to make out own breaks and get stuff done.

We're not going to just wait around and see what's cheap and....

NO !!! So for the 1st two seasons the money is basically a wash by cap hit. After that - and think about this really, really, REALLY hard please - the 'Hawks would have a 35-YEAR OLD goalie at a $5.33M cap hit and 8 more years left on his contract.

Everyone thought the 'Hawks were hamstrung with the Soupy contract. Well in sort of a way they were. Turns out they didn't do a whole he!!uva lot with that cap relief and wasted a season of #'s 2, 7, 10, 19, 36, 81 & 88; so that deal turned out to be kinda stupid. If Soupy's contract was an albatross with 5 years remaining at $7.14M a year at age 32, what would Lou's be at 10 years remaining at $5.33M a year at age 33?

- blackhawk24

Yea but 5.3 million 3 years from now is a lot different then 7.2 million three years ago. Thats a 6 year spread in time and the 3 factors below play a huge role in how those numbers look towards a salary cap. In 3 years 5.2 million is going to be a slightly above average contract in the NHL where as 7.3 million 3 years ago was one of the most expensive contracts in the league.

There are 3 factors at work here.
1) Players salaries going up naturally every year.
2) The percentage of the salary (or cap hit) as part of the total Salary Cap. (Cap Increases) and
3) Inflation

I'll take Luongo Please.

Its not just that , the cut down of soft goals would be enormous. Any upgrade in net should be considered. If the Hawks cant move Hammer , then do what you have to do to get Marty B and Shane Doan , 5m each for 2 years each should get the job done right ? The Goalie is improved and the top 6 gets a little better and a tad more physical.

A tad? In your opinion, did the Titanic get a tad damp?

The rumors I keep reading on here has the Hawks tied to Semin. 1) Where does he fit in the lineup. 2) Contract? 3) Does it effect anything w/ Suter/Doan/etc

Dude , ughhhhh any rumors outside of JJ , should be taken very very very lightly. JJ will report nothing if there is nothing to report, If there is legitimate info then JJ will say so , Eklund just makes stuff up so that we pay the $20 per year .

You must be reading Eklund. He's the ONLY person I've seen that has Semin connected to the Hawks.

Eklund never has the right information. In fact, if he has a rumor about anything, think the opposite.

Semin isn't coming here. At least I hope not.

I keep reading it too and still have trouble believing it.

I do think a Doan signing would be more likely than Semin.

"You must be reading Eklund. He's the ONLY person I've seen that has Semin connected to the Hawks." DING DING DING!

I think he would be good, he's big, he can score... I just don't see, with the other rumors out there, that it makes any sense.

I want to read this as, the Semin signing is unlikely, and just as unlikely is Doan. But how I read this is Semin won't happen, they're gonna sign Doan. hahaha. JK, but I'm a chicago sports fan, its the time of the year I have faith.

Don't leave Al out: trust what he says, too - remembering (as they both say) rumors are only that (or they say something like that).

Is there any chatter (except from Toews) about a Doan/Hawks hook-up?

We keep discussing it, but it seems to be be only us.

I haven't seen chatter about any possible destination for Doan, I doubt anyone knows if he really intends to leave PHX or not

Not that I'm aware. However, you would think that Toews and Doan had talked and Toews wouldn't waste his breathe if there was no chance of Doan coming here.

Now factor in:
4) Age difference
5) Contract length
6) Performance, incl playoffs

Pass...Lou is a mental midget and would totally collapse come game #83. Just look at the last 4 years playoff results if you need a refresher.
