And Shane Doan too!
It only works when both have agreed! - EKolb13
I hope not. I just refreshed and everything is back to normal...or at least the way it usually is.
But if a computer glitch gets us Suter and Doan...I'm all in. |

And in typical Hawk fashion this would be the year that Brodeur completely falls apart... - shruew
So to counter, is TT really taking the year off or what? It's $5M one year if he plays. BOS still owns his rights. The 'Hawks can't send CC their way, they'd have to find another team to take CC, and his $2.67M cap hit...who knows. |

Don't think Saad will be going anywhere - he's Bowman's prized possession from last year's draft. - RickJ
Heard from a good source in February, the Hawks had Saad in a package for Nash. |

Can someone tell me why we're looking to get rid of hammer again? Dollar for dollar, and taking into account what else we're giving up, do we honestly think we're gonna get a better d-man for him? I'd rather have hammer and Garrison or Carle for 8 rather than one Suter at 7, and then go scrambling to find a third pair guy like we did last year. - busmaster
Guess would be that they could sell high, move salary and take back a lower cap hit on a player that'd fit right into their needs (e.g. Zak Smith). The extra money would be used to drive hard for Suter or a couple other quasi-coveted UFA's. |

The funniest thing about the Lu situation is that Schneider may not be that good !! Gillis gave this guy 12 Million dollars and he's never been the #1 goalie !! hahahahahahhahahaha. He didnt look great against te Kings this year in the playoffs , He didnt look great against the Hawks two years ago in the playoffs , he may be no good at all. No one is going to give Vancouver anything except bad contracts for Lu.
(Yes , Id take Lu on the Hawks for Montador , Frolik , and Beach) - mrpaulish
NO !!! So for the 1st two seasons the money is basically a wash by cap hit. After that - and think about this really, really, REALLY hard please - the 'Hawks would have a 35-YEAR OLD goalie at a $5.33M cap hit and 8 more years left on his contract.
Everyone thought the 'Hawks were hamstrung with the Soupy contract. Well in sort of a way they were. Turns out they didn't do a whole he!!uva lot with that cap relief and wasted a season of #'s 2, 7, 10, 19, 36, 81 & 88; so that deal turned out to be kinda stupid. If Soupy's contract was an albatross with 5 years remaining at $7.14M a year at age 32, what would Lou's be at 10 years remaining at $5.33M a year at age 33? |

That's not all that crazy especially if Brodeur won't ask for the sky and the Kings won't deal Bernier within the West. The 'Hawks can get an upgrade in net, but they'd have to budget a little smarter on the skaters since Brodeur would cost quite a bit more than CC. - blackhawk24
I don't think it's crazy either. Suter would cost them a heck of a lot more money than Brodeur would at a longer term and the Hawks would still have to find a #5 - 6 d-man and have a shaky Crawford in net. The defense looks much better with Brodeur in goal all of a sudden. How many goalie wins do you think the Hawks would get from Brodeur vs how many they would get from Crawford? I think Marty would be able to beat Crawfords one or two that he had last season and take some pressure of the offense to score 3-4 goals every night. |

Its not just that , the cut down of soft goals would be enormous. Any upgrade in net should be considered. If the Hawks cant move Hammer , then do what you have to do to get Marty B and Shane Doan , 5m each for 2 years each should get the job done right ? The Goalie is improved and the top 6 gets a little better and a tad more physical. |

4 year deal for Moen in MTL - mrpaulish
For all those thinking sitting on your hands and worrying about every penny of cap space ...
It migh be prudent but it puts those who hesitate in a very bad spot when most others team don't do the same.
Moen...a grinder and leader deluxe...But a 4 year deal to a player is often hurt. . |

Yes but at 1.85m , not too big a risk assuming the cap increases every year and Montreal has a ton of other problems , some leadership cant hurt 'em |

That's 'cause Bowman already re-signed everybody he wants back.
Has any team made a trade so far this week? |

I think it's because they locked up their players a couple of weeks ago. Most of the transactions are teams scrambling to sign their own ufas. Things will pick up once that is done and the list of availables is set. |
