If youre the GM and youre not TRYING to get the absolute best deal you can youre not doing your job. If someone like you understands hes in a tough spot then he definitley knows it too. Regardless, hes not just gonna give him away without trying to get as good a deal as possible

LUONGO DIDN"T DEMAND A TRADE! He said if the team considered him in a deal he wouldn't make his NTC and problem. He also didn't say he wants the panthers its a (frank)ing rumor. Gillis doesn't need to do anything until luongo says he demands 1.

More than anywhere else. Cujo and Belfour made Leafs average D look great by cleaning up after em. Leafs have a young D too. Having a leader veteran whos still an elite top of the league goalie would make a huge difference, especially later in the season.

well if you are throwing in the Lou's going to retire before the contracts up argument. Wideman is 4 yrs younger. So Lou's deal is worse.

I think they've already played their hand that they want to trade him and nobody wants his services for the contract provided.

They are selling Lou at his lowest point. If they wanted to get a good deal of talent back, they should have traded Schnieder and stuck with Lou. But they did not stick by Roberto and have thus already made their descision to sell him. Waiting past Sunday is only going to create more problems, and they won't have the cap space to sign that big name, and teams probably won't have the cap space to trade for Luongo.
