are you actually trying to make fun of the leafs for missing the playoffs when the only two teams that finished worse than you were the jackets and oilers
- sensnucksnocups

We know how to rebuild and I believe we made the conference finals the year before when was the last time the leafs did that?

People are so stupid on here. How is Luongo's contract bad. He's got 6 years left at 5.3...... 5.3 isn't a lot for an elite goalie. I'm expecting a trade with Florida to be Bjugstad and Toronto Gardiner. Gillis is asking for more than that so that's a happy medium.

So what you're saying is that if the LEafs had Lu in net, they would have won the presidents trophy?
- rmdevil313

Nope, he's showing that Canuck fan how our forwards stack up vs his...
Not bad eh?

The NHL has become the NBA in terms of trades.
teams deal in contracts more than talent.
Carl gunnarson is the msot valuable leaf defensemen in trade because of his contract, not because he is the best.

Luongo, well in a contract world, Luongo is as close to untradeable as you can get.

Tampa walked because Nucks wouldn't take Lecavalier. Another example of a good player with a bad contract.

All I see in the NHL these days is how the young gun goalies From Niemmi to Holtby to Quick, all rise to the top. Even vancouver themselves is in this postiion because of schneider.
Having a goaltender locked up for ten years is a recipe for disaster (tag this for future LA reference).

I would like the NHL to start letting teams pay for parts of the contract as a part of the trade.

Luongo's contract is horrible.

I hope Toronto doesn't give up too much for him..

This whole situation just doesn't look like it's going to end well for Toronto.

The media will drive him nuts.... he will crack.

Simmons, Cox, Berger will drive him to drink...

It's really quite funny. All these guys trash Ek and his rumours, and all of the sudden he posts something they agree with, and he's right.

Toronto or Flor arent gonna give up those guys. They are just simply not gonna give up they best prospects. Esp now that Cory is signed.

Weve had this argument so many times. Leafs were in playoffs spot at ASG essentially with Gustavsson playin most games and scrivens. Even if you consider Lou to have dropped (statistically 1 in league last year and 14 this year) lets say hes a top 15 goalie, Leafs goalies didnt rank in top 30. IMO safe bet with that difference in goaltending, even if his numbers dropped to 2.50 gaa, leafscomfortably make playoffs.

Goaltending makes the biggest difference in the game, no question about it. Lous numbers are consistent enough that youknow where he'll end up. Significant improvement over anything Leafshave had in years

hey lets all give the habs a big round of applause for making the conference final.

you do realize that the only people that remember when a team make it to the conference final, is fans of the team that made it?

habs are screwed as long as they keep making decisions based on people who can speak french.

Pukestad isn't the Panthers best prospect. Not by a long shot.
Bure lives in Florida. Would love to see a Luongo for Pavel trade.

Making the playoffs to get beat like a redheaded step child is not the point. Making a run at the cup is. President's trophy means crap!!
