Everyone but canuck fans knew this from the start.
I wish i paid more attention and could throw the -" you're an idiot if u think luongos only worth a mediocre return. You'll see" -quotes back at the appropriate nuck posters.
Yes, i am that petty.

i don't want garrisson at $5m.
i'd offer 3.5 max and if he wants more, thank him for listening and wish him well. 1 good year = 5m? i'm thinking i'd rather keep the money than take that big a risk.
canucks will not be well served by adding another 5m dman that doesn't appreciably make their d corps better. - RealityChecker
no point even calling him for 3.5, shallow talent pool for UFA's this year. And considering you pay ballard more....thats not going to fly

i know. just my way of saying that when the talent pool is this shallow for UFA's, it's best not to spend.
when garrisson believes that he is worth (and will probably get) 5m, it's better to be on the sidelines than on the field. |

So insulting.
Yes, with the deal Schneider just signed, Luongo is probably getting moved.
But he is a player under contract, and with this new deal, the Canucks still have a bunch of Cap space and most guys signed.
They could easily go into the next season with both goalies, no matter what folks here and otherwise want to say about that. Yes, I know the # is 9.3 mil. Math is easy. But the Cap is also 70 mil!
So, get over it Ek'. You seem, ( no disrespect ) to get a bee in your bonnet and then slam away at it in various different ways. Never admitting after repeatedly being shown the logic of the other side that they might have a point.
Sort of like the Puck GOP!
But this insistence that Luongo has to be moved for SFA because you say so and "gasp"(!!!!!!) THE CONTRACT is getting tiresome.
The man has ;
The highest for the longest save % in the NHL for active goalies a .919 over 11-12 years.
3 Vezina nominations
A Gold Medal ( no matter how much the wags try to downgrade it )
Yes, he got 15 wins instead of 16 the year before last. He also had 2 shutouts and 8 total goals of support in a seven game Finals.
Its simple. I am saying it as firmly and politely as I can. If a team ( like the Cats or the Leafs ) wants one of the best goalies in the NHL, they will pay fairly or not at all.
Further, the contract is fine as they go. Quick just signed for 10. Rinne for 7...on and on it goes. Obviously a ton of teams think that long deals might get cut in the CBA, and they want the cost certainty and Cap bonus you get from a long deal. So, it can actually be thought of as a good thing as far as that goes.
Plus, the deal is mostly paid out after 6 years. With a Cap hit that is at least a million dollars cheaper than his contemporaries. Hell, its 500K less than Quick!
Elite goalies don't come cheap Ek'. I get that the old rumour salt mines mean you have to do what you do. But when you rail about respect for the game ( Schultz ) one day, and then totally disrespect and denigrate one of the truly elite goalies in the NHL the next, it kind of mitigates how seriously we should take your opinion on things of respect.
Like my dad and yours (probably ) said "You don't get respect, you earn it." Whether you are a hater, or not, Roberto Luongo has earned a ton of respect in this league.

If they don't move him this summer, they might not ever be able to trade him - Schennski
Thats deep-dish-bull-sh*t.
The Canucks do not need to move him until the trade deadline next season. If they keep him... they lose a 5 million dollar player elsewhere.... but they play in the Northwest division where they will get third in the conference anyways. They do not need to move him anytime soon.
Hell, they can even put him on waivers.
Also, the new cap is 70.... right?
Canucks have room. I am not saying they would LIKE this option... but they have it.
Just how many teams need to now make the floor?
Keep your wishful thinking.... |

This is how it will shake out, now that scheids is signed Luo will be moved before July 1st, then Van will go after a big fish with the money they save. Makes too much sense to do it now, the Value wont go up much later if at all (seeing as luo has an ntc any failing teams looking for goaltending can be denied.) |

Dale doing some "dusting and cleaning"...Santorelli will get another shot, good kid with one good year...just went down this past season and never got back up. Dale's also smart enough to stay WAY clear of Garrison and that ridiculous 5mil number. |

The only way I see Lu in a Leafs uniform is if they have a poor start to the season (due to bad goaltending), and Burkie gets desperate.
At this point though, no one will give up quality for Lu's contract (I've been saying this for months). That said, Gillis would be doing himself a disservice if he doesn't deal him before July 1st....as he'll miss out on the Parise sweeps. |

99% of people know luongo will be moved before the season starts
1% of people are canucks fans who think gillis has leverage LOL |
