Bill,

what's your opinion of pursuing Chris Stewart ?

- isaiah520

I don't see what he'd add that they don't already get from Simmonds and Hartnell. He hasn't been the same player since the fight with Brodziak where he suffered a complicated hand fracture.

Hey Bill great write up, agree with the breakdown of acquiring Penner, or Parenteau. I would much rather overpay Voracek (if need be), I still think he has a lot of potential and showed it last season after getting nailed by Kronwall. He seems to be a good fit and his point production consistency is far Superior than what JVR showed, why not finally give the guy a grade A chance, you all had faith in JVR's "potential". Voracek had all 40+ point season's besides his rookie year. At least the guy is a consistent player at most and is still only what 22? 23?

Anyway Bill who do you think or would like to see the Flyers bring in as their Back-Up goal tender is my real interest right now.

I personally believe Carle is going to walk and get over paid somewhere, don't he's a good player I just don't see paying him over 3.5.

Until Carle or a similar defenseman is signed, I wouldn't be advocating the trade of any current Flyers defenseman.

sign carle -- trade him and voracek for Ryan. i'm sure i'm getting killed for this.

Problem is hes being finicky with his contract and wants to sign like he has already done that. if he signs for 3.5-4 than id rather have Ryan. I know he will get to the 35 goal mark.

I'm just going to sit back and see what unfolds July 1st. We really can't do anything until we sign our own and see who goes where.

How do you know it's not the Flyers decision to sign him to a one year deal? How do you know it will be a one year deal? You're making a lot of assumptions.

They spend the most out of any team in the nhl on defense....its laughable.
- Philly1980

it really is.....their d is fine, they need a better "team" defense.....I'd be happy with top four of

Grossmann-Coburn
Timonen-Schenn

and

Why would Carle sign with the Flyers to get traded to Anaheim? What would this do to any other UFA who the Flyers wish to sign? They already have a bad reputation of trading away guys who sign long-term contract extensions (Carter, Richards, JVR)

If the Flyers don't want Carle, why would they sign him to trade him? No agent would allow their clients to think about signing with Philly if they did that move. Every contract the client signs would have to include a NTC/NMC

It appears Schultz will be a nuck. Reports are his playing interest is western Canada and Edmonton hadn't heard from him

They would like Biron if he doesn't re-sign with Rangers. In terms of which goalie I'd prefer, I'd be OK with Biron, Dan Ellis or Chris Mason at steep discounts, or any other goalie of similar caliber who was a starter at some point in the past but is now a clear-cut #2.

After crushing the draft, and robbing the Leafs blind for Luke Schenn, hopefully Holmgren locks up Carle, signs Jagr, and brings back Leighton to be the backup G, once those moves are made Holmger can light a big fat cigar, put his feet up on the desk, and chill. Mission complete!

I'd love Biron back. I think he'd be great in this locker room. Keeps the mood light, loves to interview. He'd get a ton of support here.

If there is a handshake deal between the Flyers and Carle for below market value (ie below Wideman's contract), I would assume there would be a NTC contained. I still expect him to be signe July 1st.
