I could accept this report if it was from the Canucks blogger, or the Devils blogger, or any other blogger. But Clout's never EVER had a blog that was remotly serious, or even connected to any sources. If Schultz signs with Vancouver, or Edmonton, I can accept that. But when you have someone that does not report on any actual news, or reports. Then I have the major ????????

On the same day that the Edmonton Oilers named Ralph Krueger as the team's new head coach, the team hopes to get closer to landing prized unrestricted free agent defenceman Justin Schultz.

The University of Wisconsin junior wrapped up meetings with his agents in Toronto on Wednesday and, over the next two days, will meet with a small group of teams before making his decision.

The Oilers and Vancouver Canucks are among a short list of teams that will meet with Schultz later this week.

Drafted by the Anaheim Ducks in the second round in 2008, Schultz became an unrestricted free agent June 24th following the NHL Entry Draft after he failed to come to a contract agreement with the Ducks.

The 22-year-old from West Kelowna, BC withdrew from school following the Badgers 2011-12 season. He led all NCAA defenceman with 16 goals and 44 points and was a finalist for the Hobey Baker Award for the second straight season.

Coming off the selection of first overall pick Nail Yakupov of the Sarnia Sting, the Oilers are looking to add to a young defensive core.

Beyond the top-four of Ryan Whitney, Jeff Petry, Ladislav Smid and Nick Schultz, there is the potential for Schultz to find a home on the Oilers blueline to start next season. Besides the Oilers, Schultz has been linked with the Toronto Maple Leafs, who have one of Schultz's former teammates Jake Gardiner on the roster.

The New York Rangers and Calgary Flames are among the other teams rumoured to be in the running for the 6'2, 185-pound blueliner.

The Detroit Red Wings are also expected to make a push to sign Schultz after losing defencemen Nicklas Lidstom and Brad Stuart in the offseason. Red Wings general manager Ken Holland confirmed to the Detroit News that his team will be in the running. "We've contacted his agents to express an interest in signing him," Holland said.

Schultz is eligible for a two-year deal for the entry-level maximum salary. This includes a $925,000 base salary, including $92,500 signing bonus plus $2.85m in performance bonuses for a cap hit $3.775m, according to CapGeek.com

is it just me or is this the most hype ever for a kid who most of us have never even seen play. The hype honestly is overshadowing most of the draft. Besides the top 3, im hearing schultz in the news way more than anyone else. Anyone got any links to him playing?

and what does that tell us? Does it say that Detroit is out, or that Toronto is out, or that any other team that was on his short list is out? No..... I just states that Vancouver, and Edmonton is on the short list.

I quoted the article in a previous post. He misreported the source article just so he could get a rise out of Leafs fans. According to the same source, Edmonton is no more favored than Calgary, which speaks volumes as to it's accuracy.

Hmmm...Leafs fans seem a little defensive about the news they're out of the running for Justin Schultz. Seriously guys, it's okay: You have Gardiner. You'll survive.
- Maxbone

If Schultz does sign with the Canucks, judging by some of his/her previous responses to the suggestion that Schultz might sign with Van, MapleLeafs91 will post a rant of EPIC proportions.

Actually anything a blogger says bad about the leafs on here (ex. The Leafs appear to be out of the running for Justin Schultz and the Oilers and Nucks are the front runners) they just completely hate on them. I know its not all of the Leafs fans, like there are tons of Nucks fans like that too. But certainly on this forum the leaf fans are so immature. Grow up
- sslider

We wouldn't care, if it was true. Problem is he got this from an awful source and threw in a few extra lines and pretended to know what he's talking about.

Speculation is not fact.

Why? Because we are merely pointing out falsifications in this blog? I don't think we are the immature ones...

I don't know anything about him, just getting caught up in the hype. He could be a bust, who knows. I find it hard to believe that he dominates in a top 2 role in his first season in the NHL. So rare for a D man to do that.

Your wrong in thinking that I care if Schultz signs with the leafs or not. I just challenge someone that just spews nothing but crap, and calls it a blog with sources. I think his best bet would be to sign with Minnesota. He would really help out that team.

Horrible franchise!

Traded Visnovsky for a 2nd rounder.

Pissed off Bobby Ryan to the point where he wants out.

Took Lindholm 6th overall.

I dont know how Murray still has a job.
