You are quite literally the dumbest person I have ever encountered. Congratulations.

Nobody knows anything about him until we see play in the NHL. Fact. Not even you, oh wise one.

I know, and teams going nuts over him.

He didn't bend the rules. The rules were clearly stated, and he followed them...
- Fosco

Well, you and I obviously have different definitions of bending the rules. I don't think he should have been able to just walk away from the team that drafted him leaving them with nothing simply because he does not want to play for that team. He doesn't have the right to feel so entitled, he hasn't done anything yet in his career. It seems that every other player considers it an honour just to be drafted into the NHL and have a shot to make it, with any team.

You misunderstand. Watch previous draft shows and see what all the analysts say about players.

You will see a common theme.....they do nothing but talk up how awesome these kids are and then most of them turn into busts.

Don't always take what the TSN panel says as truth for future outcome.

- o__o__o

No, I don't mis-understand. I dont base my opinion off of insiders. I just take what they say into consideration. I've watched Schultz plenty. I think he's got a solid career ahead of him.

Obviously most kids turns into busts. Theres 7 rounds in the draft. They all can't be NHLers. Most defensemen are taken in lower rounds though, and a large percentage are in the 2nd and 3rd. These are facts.

Because he is a top-grade prospect. A 2nd round draft pick 4 years into his development and still looking like a 2nd round draft pick that teams can get for NOTHING IN RETURN. Of course teams desperately want to sign him. There is no risk, only potential for reward. Once again, proving what an idiot you are.

Teams overpay, and in a few years try and trade the kid for cap relief. Can't wait for this lockout.

Are you talking about Schultz? He will not be overpaid with the whopping $925,000 entry level deal he receives

If you are talking about players in general, though, you are right. Finally, on something.

Why would he waste teams time and travel meeting if he already knew where he was going? He would just wait the time out and sign.

I don't necessarily disagree with you, there, but the rules clearly say that he is allowed to if he follows a certain protocol—which he did.

Definitely feel bad for Anaheim and their fans, but the rules allowed this to happen, and I can't blame a young kid for wanting to play in his home country.

Why would he want to go to one of the worst organizations in the league?

No one else does, they trade you away, after signing a home town discount. Worst organization in the league. Love how Richards won the cup. Ed Snider enjoy Bryzisaster

You guys laugh and make fun of him, but Clouts is on the mark. Never heard of the dude from Detroit, but I've said along te favorite is Edmonton and Vancouver is right there in the mix. This is playing out as planned. Now it's down to whover'd management team does a better sell job.
- TLinden16

So Clouts is on the mark because you have said all along that EDM and VAN were in the mix? Now I feel better that Clouts has informed sources like TLinden16.

Hmmm...Leafs fans seem a little defensive about the news they're out of the running for Justin Schultz. Seriously guys, it's okay: You have Gardiner. You'll survive.
- Maxbone

That's not news; that's your speculation.

Who's to say he dosen't want the pressure of playing in his hometown and wants to experience living in another market. The hometown aspect is overrated. In the end i think he wants to play with one of his Wisconsin teammates. Well not "play" but play, you know what I mean.
