Schultz will get the standard highest-end entry level deal. What is it, $925k per season with a $250k signing bonus and a chance to earn bonuses up to $3.775mil during the season? Same deal Nuge got and Yakupov is about to get. - Maxbone
He isn't going to be anything special, Toronto will be all over this guy. |

Considering the Dennis Wideman contract Feaster handed out today, I can't wait to read about the 12 year, $745mil deal he offers Ryan Suter on Sunday. - Maxbone
Oh, good one! |

The draft, still not getting anything for Iginla, now the Wideman contract.. Feaster is running that team into the ground at a record pace. I honestly feel bad for Calgary fans. I know that feel bro. It's like we are watching Kevin Lowe as GM of the Oilers all over again |

Someone is going to give Matt Carle 6million a year cap hit. No wonder this league is going to get locked out. |

Plus, his final season in college he was 2 years older than Schultz is now, and Schultz put up significantly better numbers. |

I dont know what comments your talking about. The comments I saw said he's ready to step into most teams Top 4 and will be the most sought after FA besides Suter and Parise.
And I've seen him play roughly 50 times over the past two years, but what do I know. |

Schultz is just one player, he is not going to instantly make Edmonton that much better, nor will he put Vancouver instantly over the top. He will have a steep learning curve to overcome because the speed of NCAA D1 is just one step below AHL levels. Being a PPG in the NCAA does not automatically translate to being the same in the NHL, I won't compare him to Gilroy because Gilroy was never drafted and had a much lower ceiling because he was older and had finished developing. D-men usually don't reach their potential until their late 20s, the Doughty's, Suters and Webers of the world notwithstanding. Anyone expecting Schultz to step into a top 4 role should be aware that it will take him at LEAST most of this season to learn the NHL game/system of the team that signs him/get chemistry with his D partner. It's not going to just happen overnight and chances are he won't contribute significantly until next year after he's had this year to get himself comfortable playing at this level. |

If you had been forced to watch Cam Barker, Corey Potter, and Ryan Whitney all of last season, you wouldn't be saying that

I agree. I would just as soon not sign him.
Who does this kid think he is? Bends the rules because he is a little female dog and doesn't want to play in Anaheim, and hasn't even played ONE professional hockey game, yet he thinks he's the poop. He wants to be guaranteed a spot on somebody's roster? (frank) him. You earn your spot in training camp like everybody else. - SteveTambellini
Totally followed all the rules... |

Wow, you're right - look at his stats! 0 games played, 0 goals, 0 assists! It's almost like he's never played an NHL game. What a bust indeed! |

You misunderstand. Watch previous draft shows and see what all the analysts say about players.
You will see a common theme.....they do nothing but talk up how awesome these kids are and then most of them turn into busts.
Don't always take what the TSN panel says as truth for future outcome. |

Matt Gilroy - Mr.Forsberg
Undrafted 24 year old vs. 21-year-old, developed, highly-touted (by far more scouts and analysts than Gilroy was) 2nd round pick.
Totally different players and situations. |

Gilroy also had an injury history so that also played a factor |
