The only reasoning I can guess on why Shultz does not want to play in Anaheim is because of Gardiner leaving. Maybe Gardiner talked poop about the Anaheim organization after the pick. Maybe Shultz said he'd play in Anaheim because of Gardiner, and once Gardiner left, Shultz wanted no part.
The Bobby Ryan debacle may shed some insight into how badly the Ducks are run, and that could possibly be a similar factor into why Shutz decided not to sign in Anaheim.
But a telling factor for me is he is using a little known loophole in the CBA. The source of that loophole I believe could have only originated from his agent.
Bits and pieces here and there I believe eventually led to him not wanting to play in Anaheim and instead play in native Canada where he will gain considerably more exposure and possibly more money. |

4. Ya wouldn't surprise me if it was indeed by design that Tambo isn't there but probably not.
I wonder if Mac-T thinks: Do I really want this smug, gulping, nearly unintelligible eye sack at these meetings with The Shultz? - Salvo
Their thinking must have been they were scared that if Schultz asked Tambs any questions he would give the most vague answers ever |

If it's all about Gardiner he'd be going to TOR no questions asked.
As for Ryan it was a coaching thing with Carlyle and Murray did drop the ball naming his name more than one.
That loophole Schultz used isn't exactly news to anyone.
One thing is for sure, Murray sure hurt himself when he dealt Lubo for nothing. How do you expect to convince Perry and Getzlaf to sign extensions if you are just giving assets away? |

I really don't care what he gets on one year deals. Give him 2-3mil base and 2-3mil bonuses. I was just worried he gets a 2-3 deal and gets hurt or retires or continue to decline. - Lahey

They (frank)ed up big time with Ryan.
For a team and fanbase that have been complaining about a player showing no loyalty (Schultz), they certainly havent shown any to Ryan. Who signed a great contract at a great cap hit to stay in Anaheim. |

They are really in tough the next few years they don't really have a lot of guys that will be under contract.
Most guys are going to be UFA's and you have to wonder if they just say (frank) this and leave. |

Yeah they did. For at least the last couple years, they've run a bad organization there. I don't know if ownership knows or cares at this point.
They're walking a fine line of going into mediocrity if they don't figure out how to run an organization the right way soon. No offense to the fans, but they don't have many fans to begin with, and if the team starts tanking, a lot of those fans will leave and then what? |

I think they just might. They may have to sell off their entire top line in the next year. And if that happens, they will be looking at the first overall pick. |

They (frank)ed up, they should've at least waited until Perry and Getzlaf were under contract before leaking Ryan's name, again. |

I would have used '10 Flaming Questions' for the Flames blog title myself... it just sounds right y'know?

It would be one hell of a rebuild though. Selling all three of Getzlaf, Perry, and Ryan. As well as getting a top pick. |
