I've never been much of a fan of the blow it up, tank to win mentality, but if there were ever a team in need of hitting a giant "RESET" button, it would be the Flames.

BB won't have to spend much time gauging interest for Connolly at least... "number of calls recieved = 0", Lombardi perhaps one or two.

I was roundly berated last year for suggesting that both Connolly and Lombardi will have some value at this year's deadline as rentals.

I'm still going to stick by that. As third line centres for a team looking for depth up front, they could have some use, provided they stay somewhat healthy this year.

IMO, Schultz looks past the frigid and boring city of Edmonton and signs with their promising roster. Where else would someone of his age want to play right now!? Edmonton is a few more players from being stupid good.

That's my point. It's a great way to sell the team to a FA. They have incredible talent that's REALLY young and only going to get better. I mean, Eberle, Hall, RNH, Yakupov...crazy.

Anyway, I don't hold no thoughts that Schultz has already made up his mind. He's listening to different teams pitching their virtues and he'll decide where his career has the best place of thriving. Looking at Vancouver, close to home, but no guarantee of top 4 minutes. Edmonton might be a fit, but they are still not a contending team and may not be for a few more years. He will also believe that once all of these top level draft picks mature, then there may not be enough money to go around, once they get past their entry level contracts. Toronto has Burke who drafted him, Carlyle who worked with him and his best friend in Gardiner. Problem is, that it's half a continent away from home for him. My guess? The New York Rangers.....Why? All of the 5th Avenue, New York whores that the Rangers can serve up to him!

Henny was talking about another trade coming (He gave no details) after the Schenn deal, that never materialized into anything and that is what I figure the Toronto/Anaheim situation was.

So, that deal fell through and late Sunday night (I think) Mackenzie tweeted about Vancouver being a favorite in the sweepstakes.
