re-reviewing MPS....hes actually been struggling quite a bit eh? I knew he was a project and had potential, but for some reason I thought he was better than hes shown to date.

- noename09

Yeah....MPS not elite level talent...only Yak, RNH, Hall, Eberle.

And at least one of those guys is gone for sure for a couple Dmen and a #1G.

The thing about those kind of deals, is not that you shouldn't trust the guy, but make sure it's authentic, and check the condition. Recently, highly-graded rookie cards sold at auctions for between $60k-90k. Book value will be around $900 it seems.

Oh for sure. My dad isn't one to get dupped, don't you worry about that lol

I think everyone did. He's been a bit of a disappointment overall for Edmonton I think. Not that he's bad, just not as good as he was hyped to be. But who knows, he could just be a slow bloomer.

Hell have one more shot this year Id guess...with his production of late, he might not be needed around that team.

He lives in Buffalo, thats not that far. And you don't have to live in Toronto to be understanding of whats going on. And if Lombardi is still on the roster anything's possible. I hope he's not still here next season, but who knows what Burke is thinking

Just logic. For instance, Lombardi is injury prone and makes an abohrently high salery. Add in the fact that he is a bad player who is a shadow of hs former self, the fact that we have comprable players to replace him, and the fact that the Leafs desperately need to sign at least 3 more players, and I just cannot see how he is possibly in the linup on opening night. In one sense, we are up against the cap, but in another, by simply dumping some dead weight, we have tons and tons of room. Do the math and Lombardi is gone.

gone to where?

there is no room on the marlies with guys like mckegg coming up

so if you cant trade lombardi, what do you do with him? moving him down forces you to move someone else to the ECHL, thus hampering development

i am not saying you are wrong, i just think its not so easy.. there is alot involved with moving a veteran down.. thats why only a couple teams have done it.. and dont use finger as an example please.. he does not have the same career as lombardi.. not even close

All top end talent...you trying to say they couldnt move 1-2 of them to average out the rest of the team or upgrade in net/defense?

- noename09

MPS is not top end talent.

No, you could not move the rest for anything that is significantly better than what they have. They will not move the top 4, not should they.

Edmonton needs to let some young D develop with the young forwards and then be in a better position in a couple years to know how to round out their roster.

I agree. Lombardi SHOULD be gone, but where to send him is the issue. Burke won't ship him off for nothing, but he also can't bury him in the minors. It's a difficult situation to be in for a GM

and why does anyone want to take him off our hands, exactly? Hes not going to play with the Marlies...he may sit a few games, hes certainly not a Carlyle type player...but its going to be damn hard to move him. Damn hard. Damn, damn hard.

Leafs announce their prospect camp will be July 2 to 5 next week. Biggs, Komarov, Rielly (and other 2012 picks) all will be there.

Then EK wonders why nobody takes him seriously.....

"Let me just say this. Justin Schultz earned this right (by snubbing the team who used the extremely valuable commodity of a first round pick) to sign with whoever he pleases...."

He should check his facts before posting.......... Schultz was a second round pick
