damn...went to hasbean, I thought you had the choice of like 20 beans that they grind for you on the spot for a single coffee...only had 6 options...but is good nonetheless - noename09
no no.. that large selection is for people looking to buy and bring it home.. they'll do custom roasts and everything
still.. i dont think i know of anyone else who roasts the beans right there |

News reporting died back in the 80's
Once the governments deregulated the news industry, basically allowing a conglomerate to own more than one news source in any given city, reporting died. We are basically now spoon fed what the corporate masters want us to know - faceto27
yup, and reporters are becoming fame seekers instead of just doing their job
sad thing really.. the only real way to garner truth from the news is to read all factions of it and find the middle ground
hopefully one day this changes |

hes going to Edmonton....with that talent they have now and upcoming, hell just be another piece for them to start being successful. Toronto is ahead of Canucks I would think - noename09
I just don't think a 22 year old kid chooses Edmonton. If you could live in Van, Tor or Edmonton as a young, single, newly rich, famous athelete which would you choose? |

that's a bit conspiracy theory-ish... If you are talking about Political Slant of a given station(s), sure, but day to day reporting? Nobody above the Exec Producer gives a poop about what is reported on a daily basis (until after anyways...).
CTV, CBC, Citytv, Global - 4 different companies all in the same market. How many different voices do you want?
No company can own more than one newsroom in a given media stream in a given market. |

The way I try to decipher the news is....... read the mainstream media, read what I can find on the internet that isn't mainstream, then try to figure out what is the truth from what I can gather.
No way do I take everything the mainstream media says at face value
It is the absolute worst in the USA. I lived there, and the people have become so reliant on CNN etc..... they believe what is told to them.
It is what I call the dumbing of America. |

I won't cry if we don't get him.
Look at the Leafs D bank now - used to be too heavily loaded with Defensive shutdown guys and no true puck-mover/offensive guys. Now it's almost completely the opposite.
6 Months ago we were trying to decide if we'd rather keep Schenn or Aulie, now they are both gone. Only shut-down guy left is Komi, who most of us hope is also sent packing. That leaves what? Holzer?
Phaneuf-Liles
Gardiner-Franson
Gunner-Komi/Holzer
who's running the PK in that group? and if Shultz comes in, Holzer/Komi/Gunner are the likely candidates to be removed...
not ideal for on of the worste defensive teams in the league |

The editor or executive producer does control what is printed or broadcast. The editor or executive producer reports to bosses. Do you really think if what they were reporting was derogatory to their interests they would allow it??
Would Sportnet ever be overyly critical of the Blue Jays?? Would they suggest a boycott of games??
Catch my drift? |

oh hell ya it's way worse in the US. They literally drive the political agendas with their national newsrooms. Downright embarrassing. |

did you not see the bins? you can order custom roasts.. but for just the day to day coffee drinkers they have to narrow it down.. it would of been pressed and roasted either late yesterday or this morning tho
all fair trade too.. which is cool |

Off topic but --- was thinking about how change in MLSE ownership would affect their views on CBA. TSN/SportsNet would be VERY unhappy if there was no season |

Any sports news agency that suggests a boycotting of games is going to get sued big time. Completely irresponsible and defamatory. so let's call that a bad example.
I did say " (until after anyway) in brackets, implying that yes, it is feasible that pressure from higher ups might come after a given piece is run. However, the only time this would really come in to play is either Politics, or something about the company itself.
In both scenarios, competing News entities with differing Political affiliations will be all over it, so it gets out anyway.
Corporations slant the image of their newsrooms to an extent, but there is no, or extremely little, sensoring going on, in this country at least. |

oh ya they'll lose their poop. But, they have interests of ownership too. One could argue they could lose more in a year or 2 of a bad CBA deal that reduces ownership revenues than they would by losing a season of broadcasted games. |
