Quick late night post. I read that article that was mentioned on the boards here. I want the playoffs and contention as bad as the next Leafs fan, but Burke sang music to my ears...

I'm with you on that one, sure he made that mistake with the Kessel trade, but he filled up our cup-boards with good prospects and i dont remember the last time we had that..

Unfortunately, there are people who want Burke to get Luongo, Nash etc and just make the playoffs, so if he doesnt, we will prob hear "Fire Burke" chants thise year

Well he's definitely proven he can make a splash. He knows how to acquire assets. He seems to be pretty good at drafting Defencemen. His FA skillz leave a little to be desired, but if he can finally start using his own players (drafted players) maybe he won't need to do as much FA work and he can do MOAR TRADEZ!!

Its all about stability. Big reason why Burke, who even though hes not had any success here yet, is still generally considered one of the top GMs in the league, and everyone realizes the mess he walked into. Aside from stocking the cupboard and building the foundation (which is a process, took Pit, LA allthose teams nearly a decade and a little luck) there is alot behind the scenes we dont see. Even if the Leafs dont make the playoffs, as much as media will clamour for it, and a lot of fans, he wont be fired IMO.

Also change of ownership to Rogers and Bell the last things these guys will wanna do, along with Tannenbaum is make big moves like firing, searching and hiring new gm/pres (not many better available gms anyways, who would you rather here) they just wanna get the content for their outlets to pump their products. In my opinion of course
