Schenn for van Riemsdyk

Something happened early in Randy Carlyle’s time coaching the Maple Leafs. He decided he didn’t trust Luke Schenn on defence.
He didn’t see in him the virtues that others in the hockey world believed in. So it was obvious once the coaching change was made that Schenn would no longer be a Leaf.
The Carlyle opinion tipped the scale after LeafS management and captain Dion Phaneuf had come to a similar conclusions earlier.
The player chosen fifth overall in 2008 never developed the way they wanted him to. He was too slow to react, unsure too often, playing an in between game on defence. He wasn’t a shutdown defenceman, wasn’t an offensive defenseman, was just a guy making too much money. That was the Leaf view.
From afar they saw James van Riemsdyk as the kind of power forward they didn’t have. Large. Speedy. Physical. He could be all those things, only he hasn’t been very often. van Riemsdsyk played very well in the playoffs of 2011.
Before that, he was just a guy in Philly. Since then, he’s been hurt and ineffective. The Leafs will give him large minutes in a top-six role, just as the Flyers will do the same for Schenn.
Both players can be better than they have been. This is a trade that meets needs. Both teams may be better for making this move.

- Steve Simmonds on Sunday

Where does he get this poop from? Just pulled the whole Carlyle doesn't like Schenn bit out of nowhere, then adds in that Phaneuf came to the same conclusion earlier.

If I'm MLSE, I'm suing The Sun for libel.

Is that copy and pasted? Because honestly, he is just a bad writer, its not even the poop he makes up, its just, he is a bad writer. I'm not sure how to explain it, reading his words makes me rub my eyes.

Simmonds is the dirtiest douche bag around when it comes to "reporting" on the Leafs. Seriously, has this guy EVER written ANYTHING even remotely positive about the Leafs?

Simmonds is nothing but a hack who argues for the sake of arguing and writes bullsh!t for the sake of writing bullsh!t.

Sadly, this (frank)er has way too many people's attention...

via phone? I think teams called him and his agent to inquire about the possibiilty of signing him, and if they said no, then they're out..

Im guessing thats how it went if its true, seems like credible people are saying this though, so its probably true

However, the #Flyers package for Nash was built around JVR before the #CBJ star vetoed the trade. Guess what JVR is now a member of #Leafs..

This guy kills me, Burke would never in a million years trade a player he JUST acquired, he has too much pride and it makes a GM look bad around the league doing that
