I love RJ
"The other thing that impacts it is I think we're going to be pretty darn good this year. I really do. I thought there was some promise last year, and with the maturation of the team alone it should be better. I know they're going to do something else before the free agency period has totally passed by. I'm looking forward to that as well. That of course, as you well know, makes the season a lot shorter when things are going well."

Crosby could have demanded maximum deal of 12 years, $168.48 million. And the Pens would have given him what he wanted. - Gunner Staal
For as much poop as fans across the league give him, he really is a good guy. He just as easily could have gotten that anywhere. But he didn't want to handcuff the team around him, so he's willing to take less.
I'm sure other GMs love this deal. What player in the league can honestly say he deserves to make more per year than Crosby does?

Our lines actually look pretty good right now if u slot in Griegorenko on the RW
(maybe w vanek & Hodgson?)
That would give us a 3rd line of leino-Roy-pominville
Could be worse
I like the offensive potential of that group,
But still lack physicality which will prob kill us come playoff time

think any of the big dogs in mlb, nba or nfl would have done that? you better believe it. crosby is a class act along with a good majority of the rest of the nhl players.

Defense is still too soft too... - jdfitz77
I agree to a point, but some of the guys on D have shown they can play physical. Myers was a beast against Philly. Ehrhoff actually played with a physical edge to his game at times last year. If Weber isn't such a train wreck this year, he can certainly take guys out and McNabb isn't afraid to throw a hit either. I think Regehr was battling an injury most of the season and that's why we didn't see him throwing any big hits for the second half of the year.
And up front, we do have Foligno. Just ask Gunnarsson about Foligno.

Socioeconomics plays a huge role in that, its the truth.

I have a hard time seeing any player ask for and expect to receive that kind of deal.

I was told I was wrong for a long time about Crosby's extension and how he would have to take more to appease the NHLPA. I said Sid would stay "in the area" of his current deal. Boom. Sorry, not in my nature to do that but I took a lot of grief for that opinion. - Gunner Staal

I seriously think that was my favorite play of the year. I think it's because it was so early in the game. 1st shift. I just hope he doesn't lose that edge.

I showed it to my daughter... the kid who runs around the house at 4 1/2 yelling Go Sabres whenever Hockey is on TV (which is quite often)
She said no thanks Daddy. LOL More of a boys stuffed "animal" I guess. - burner087
She's been collecting them for him since he was in the womb, so he didn't really have a choice. They line the whole one side of his room along the floor boards. It actually looks pretty neat,
