Cory Schneider and Manny Mahlotra got picked to represent the Canucks on the 31-member nhlpa bargaining committee. So this might be a sign CS is going to be reuping here soon. |

Price is a fool, wayyyy to cynical and he has the worst character trait of all...he thinks hes way smarter than he is
Sekeres seems to know his stuff, but he comes off as a guy that just sits and studies everything, not someone who actually ever played a sport
Jeff Patterson is just annoying
Moj is unintentianally hilarious
BMac and taylor....meh, previous show was better IMO
Chapman is OK, but Botchford seriously needs someone to punch him in the face repeatedly. Calling him arrogant would be to understate the word
The guy who legit knows his stuff, IS very intelligent and WAS and STILL IS a legit athlete is Rintoul. Shermanator stuff aside, he's probably the best of the bunch at 1040 - TLinden16
Sekeres, Chapman, and Botchford are the only true journalists. The rest are just local personalities that happen to talk sports. |

The core of the Canucks is still signed for the next couple of years and most of those players are still in their prime. Giving a guy like Garrsion, who has had one good year at the age of 27, a 5+ million, multiyear contract would cripple the team going forward. Burrows will most definitly get a raise from his 2 mil. ect.
How much more flexabilty would the Flames have if they didn't have guys like Stajan, Bouwmeester and now Wideman making a million or 2 more then they are worth. It is so easy to cripple a team in a salary cap world with a bad contract or 2. - fiveandagame
I'm talking just one contract for the canucks like garrison. But realistically they should wait until trade deadline to make that move and decide if they are going to go for it or just be happy with the presidents cup and individual stats again.
The flames have way too many of those but they are much better then before (stajan, Cammelleri and Jbo are down to 2 yrs). Lou's contract is alot worse then all 3 of those.

This guy drives me nuts! He sounds way too contrived, kinda like Kent Brockman off the Simpsons. |

Every team will likely offer the max ELC/bonuses, including Gillis and the Canucks. |

That's the number I was thinking...4.5. And if he really wants to play in Vancouver then I could see Gillis giving it to him, especially if Schultz goes elsewhere. If it all plays out the way I hope the Canucks get both Garrison and Schultz. It would really help the D and the PP. - CanUSA17
He likes Florida, highly unlikely he signs in Vancouver. |

From Cloutier's blog.
It appears Schultz is in no panic to meet with Oilers management, and that's a bad sign. He was to meet with Taylor Hall yesterday, but got sidetracked and the meeting didn't occur. It sounds like the Calgary Flames asked to meet with Schultz, but were turned down, as he has no interest. From what I understand, the Schultz camp does plan on meeting with the Oilers, but at this time a different team is the priority.
The Oilers strategy is to have both management and some of the kids meet with and/or speak to Schultz. A key element of the Oilers argument will be that the team has the skill up front, but lacks the D; meaning, Schultz will have every opportunity to become the #1 defenseman in Edmonton.
Sadly, the Oilers are always the bridesmaid in these situations, and never the bride. Don't count on Schultz signing with Edmonton, considering the number of teams showing interest in him. It's looking more and more likely that Schultz will be signing with the Vancouver Canucks, which is perhaps a worst-case scenario for the Oilers. Not only will we lose the lottery, but then we'll get to play against him six times a year. Lame.

I know you have an insider Scoobs but if he likes Florida why hasn't he signed yet with 3 days to go until he hits FA? Is he trying to make Tallon sweat it out until he offers more? |

Offering a contract like that to a guy that had one good year, doesn't really fit into Gillis's mold. Luongo's contract is bad becasue of the length. 5.3 cap hit is quite decent for what you are getting. When you compare that cap hit to guys like Wideman, Grabovski etc, it is acctually a pretty good deal. |

Ok , was just curious if he wanted to pay top dollar to a kid who hasn't played in the NHL yet...that and the fact that what's the max he can make???3.5-3.8ish?
People here were worried about Nash or lecalvier coming here and making too much cuz it goes against the culture they've built. I guess having a pissed off d-man or two may be worth it. Medium risk, high-reward |

I'd take that with a grain of salt. There are plenty of UFAs on that list.

I think the most positive thing about the Schultz is that you get a 21 year old 2nd round prospect with a ton of upside for nothing more then a max ECL. It is a risk but all the scouting reports have this guy ranked very high. At the end of his ECL of he hasn't done anything, you let him go. He could turn into a top pairing guy and at the end of the day all it cost you a couple of bucks.
Edit: most high end picks end up signing a max ECL anyways so this is no differnet then getting a top pick in the draft for free. |
