btw, not the least bit surprisingly, Bill did a much better job with the numbers than I did.

- BringBack25

You did a good job. Bill is just on a whole other level.

You'd rather keep Read over Voracek simply because of his cap hit?
- LordStanley88

I didn't say that. I said I think they need to keep Read.

anybody out there?
- flyersfan51

plenty of them

i'd actually rather sign two of them (if possible) than sign a top 6 forward like jagr

Defensively I would be perfectly fine heading into the season with this...

Coburn-Grossman
Timonen-Schenn
Meszaros-Carle
Lilja-MAB

Not a fan of MAB just lounging around in the press box every night, but I guess the waiver thing kind of puts him in that situation.

I would prefer to keep both. But it would be insane to deal a 20+ goal scorer who has a 900k cap hit.

So you are just gonna come back with the same exact roster plus Schenn?

It is time to move on past Jagr. They need to bring in some new offensive blood, never was a fan of coming back with the exact same roster. Change is good.

- Flyers2821

I don't want Jagr back either......I've always said, if the flyers miss on Parise, they should trade for Ryan.

Voracek is SO overrated by Flyers fans.
- Flyers2821

... and apparently by Patrik Elias as well, who called him the Flyers' best forward after Giroux.

What's not to like about him? He has skill, speed, youth, he's good defensively.

So, hypothetically, if they move for Ryan, you'd rather deal Voracek than Read?

I'm betting you're against a trade in the first place, but I'm just curious.

Re: Shero

How long are these voters shelf life? I mean once you gain the credentials to become a voter are you one until you die or become senile? Just seems that someone(s) has a real problem with FS. He's like the Pete Rose of hockey without the gambling.

I love how Ryan has become a must have for the Flyers. He mentions he wants to come here and all of a sudden he's a household name who we should give up 2 roster players, 1 of which will weaken our defense, and a draft pick. I don't get it. Scoring was not an issue last year.

Straight up, that's not bad but add in Mez and/or a pick and Anaheim is robbing us blind.

What's up with Jagrs agent meeting with the team today? just keeping communication open or do you see a development there?

a lot of teams will offer him more and rumor has it, he wants to be in Canada.
- flyersfan51

Am I leight with this? He can only make 900K a year. So his decision will be based on other factors.

So if we are under the assumption that Carle is going to sign when FA begins at right around 4.5 million... this is kinda where the team sits roster wise... with the potential of signing Voracek as well... (ignoring two-way contracts counting in offseason)

FORWARDS
Scott Hartnell ($4.200m) / Claude Giroux ($3.750m) / ____________
Wayne Simmonds ($1.750m) / Brayden Schenn ($3.110m)/Danny Briere ($6.500m)
Eric Wellwood ($0.580m) / Sean Couturier ($1.375m) / Matt Read ($0.900m)
Zac Rinaldo ($0.544m) / Maxime Talbot ($1.750m) / ____________
Jody Shelley ($1.100m)

DEFENSEMEN
Braydon Coburn ($4.500m) / Nicklas Grossmann ($3.500m)
Kimmo Timonen ($6.333m) / Luke Schenn ($3.600m)
Andrej Meszaros ($4.000m) / Matt Carle ($4.500m)
Andreas Lilja ($0.738m) / Marc-Andre Bourdon ($0.800m)
LTIR: Chris Pronger ($4.921m)

GOALTENDERS
Ilya Bryzgalov ($5.667m)
Martin Biron ($0.875m)
------

SALARY CAP: $70,300,000; CAP PAYROLL: $64,993,373; BONUSES: $2,705,000
CAP SPACE (22-man roster): $5,306,627

I don't want Schultz. Great potential but he's already showed his maturity in how he's treating this Anaheim situation. The guy hasn't played a day in the NHL and already he is dictating where he wants to go. He's earned nothing.
- NickTheKid87

I don't have a problem with him having the choice of where to go. That's what you get for going to school instead of juniors and being an adult by the time you sign the first contract. But I have issue with him demanding he should automatically slot in a particular role when he hasn't played a day. Of course, what you promise and what he ends up being capable of may be entirely different things. And if they are, the contract doesn't guarantee he doesn't end up in the AHL for seasoning or on a reduced role with his shiny new NHL team. And I would wonder how he might handle that.

Schenn2shine says Elias is the Devils third best forward behind parise and kovy.

Dealing Read would be a mistake in my opinion. They need to keep him for his value.
- MJL

Agree. He is a key on the P-K as well as lots of offensive upside.

so we'll have 10 million if Pronger's was counted above.......Voracek at 3 and Parise at 7...there we go.
