More then half of the teams in the league met with Richards at some sort of compound to make pitches to him but it was widely speculated that he was going to the Rangers at least a month before Free Agency began. Sure enough Richards wasted these teams time and signed with the Rangers anyway. Sure you could make the argument that there was an off chance another team might blow him away with an offer and one of those teams probably did but Richards ended up with the Rangers anyway. What I like about Parise is, they'll be no show and he's keeping his cards pretty tight to his chest. Nobody knows where he's going.

I'd have to ask where you got this information from that half the team's in the League met with Richards. Secondly, no one forced those team's to do so, if they did. Thirdly, that is the Free Agent process. And there is nothing wrong with a Free Agent to talk to any amount of teams to see what they're offering. That is what the player has earned through years of service in the League. Richards hasn't received any criticism for that, because none is warranted.
It seems that speculation and rumors often get confused with reality.
