29 other cities can say that too. There's is nothing about Doan's game that's not to like. Plus I couldn't think of a player that would be hungrier for a ring than him.

What kind of player is P.A. Parenteau? Is he good defensively?

The guy player his entire 16 year career in Wpg and Phx. I'm surprised he's not too numb to care.

Doan was a considerable "minus" player on a team that had a lot of "plus" guys. Is that concerning to anyone? I know +/- can be misleading and all that, but I think it's a somewhat decent metric to compare guys on the same team.

Well, the context I made the reply in was with regards to defensive play.

I don't think it'd do more than 2 years with him. I'd be concerned his decline speeds up and he becomes ineffective well before a long multiyear deal is up. And it'd be a 35+ contract too.

Edit: I'd give Ray Whitney a 1 year deal though. How the heck is this guy still scoring 75+ points? I didn't realize he hit 1000 points this season.

Are figures of $4.5 for carle and 3.25 for voracek realistic?

I wouldnt think so now for Carle, unless he's just a nice guy.

Poor defensively, slow afoot. Not a great finisher. Good passer.

Wasn't Doan known to be one of the better 2 way players in the game when he was younger?

So yes, as I was saying earlier from my cell phone at work, I feel we've taken possible steps back by making the Luke Schenn trade. Schenn can hit and block shots but so could Jason Smith. We didn't get better, we stayed the same. For those going against a big move for Nash or Ryan, what did we get for Coburn and Meszaros to begin with? I think we should be open minded to all moves. If we forget about younger or even bring him back at the age that he is, we're asking for more from Voracek, who I believe is a second line player. Also as stated, the sophomore jinx. I'm expected one of Schenn, Couturier and Read to be a disappointment. I'm also not expecting for Hartnell to reach 37 again and Talbot 19 again. If a difference maker doesn't come in, we very well could have lost a lot of goals.

As one player player has an off year, another player has a big year. And it will vary through the Season. A player like Brayden Schenn is likely to make a big jump. I expect Couturier to have the same solid two way game. Voracek is going to get better and better.

And before I decide whether they got better or stayed the same. I'm going to let the Off Season play out. Were a long way from even beginning to be able to speculate about that. The Off Season has just begun.
