Also I think I'd like to point out that our 3rd line pairing could (Schenn & Carle) could be some team's first. And our depth at D is better than pretty much anyone's... I mean we could have gone with Lilja as our 6th d or Bourdon or Gus and saved some $. We don't have to resign Carle. But I think we would be a better team if maybe we did. Also with Signing Wideman, where is Calgary's numbers now?

Seriously, he'd be crazy to not test the market now when he could get 6 mil from someone, loyalty or not, he's more loyal to his family, and an extra 4 - 5 mil is huge.

Apparently Carle is gone because of the Wideman signing. I have trouble believing that Carle's agent did not know exactly what market value would bring, and if either player or agent are surprised by the numbers, then he would not be a very good agent.

It has been said that Carle would be signing for below market value, and since this signing is pretty much where everyone involved should have known was market value...I see little changing in the Carle negotiation.

Sure it was an overpayment for a guy of Wideman's ability, but that is the market.

What do you think of this pipe-dream off-season?

2-Sign Zach Parise – 7M
3-Re-sign Voracek 3 M, Leighton – 800 K, and Bourdon – 900K
4- Cut Shelly (1.1 M)

Not sure if it’s realistic that we trade Schenn but I’d prefer to part with him over Mesz or Coburn. Also, is that enough for Ryan? I know I leave our 3rd D pairing very weak and that we are over the cap by 700 K before the Pronger LITR. Maybe we can acquire a decent vet defensemen in season or hope that Gutzy steps up. I forgot to add him haha.

Was there not a time last year when you had 3 or 4 dmen hurt at the same time? Which brings me to this question, if you spend to the cap to bring in Parise/Ryan who's is going to play defense if/when there are injuries?
