Anaheim never stated they were shopping him. If they come out now and say they aren't, but then get wowed by an offer and end up trading him, they'd look pretty stupid so I think the elect to say nothing, because what's the advantage? - funmaster18
This is my point. Players get shopped around the league without Public knowledge. They dont have to say anything. Teams know whos available. So b/c its not public knowledge doesnt mean Anaheim isnt shopping him around.
Saying it publicly hurts his value more than helps it. |

Have the Ducks said he isn't? - BulliesPhan87
I don't think so but I haven't heard anywhere that he was. |

I would assume his asking price might be even higher than Ryan. - stveshdy
For good reason. I would have a significantly easier time in giving up Mez, Voracek and a 1st for Perry. He can score and is much better defensively than Ryan. |

It would only be feasible if the Flyers let both Carle and Jagr walk. I spelled out why in yesterday's blog. - bmeltzer
I am getting more comfortable with letting both walk. Give mab the job
F Parise and Ryan and Nash
Target Doan. And next year, get ready for Weber after Timmo retires.
Give Coby and Mez and Grossman and Schenn big minutes. |

I like Perry a lot also. Not sure Anaheim is willing to trade their best player at this current time. |

Well, he's at least not unavailable as far as we know. If the price is right, we could probably get him.
The price, however, is probably not right. |

perry was a - 7 last year. Ryan was a +1 and has shorthanded goals and has 2 shorties.
Ryan
26 even strength +(3ppg +2sh) for ryan
Perry
25 + (11ppg 1SH) for perry
only difference i cant tell is that perry gets more pp time lol. |

No thanks. Sign Carle or find a replacement. Can't let him walk and go with that. You'll find out real quick how important he was if you don't sign/replace him. |

I love when people use +/- to gauge a player's defensive prowess |

If you target Doan, you maybe able to sign Carle and Keep Voracek. (assume you dump Shelley salary, put Pronger on LTIR, etc...) |

Corey Perry won MVP in 2011. There is a reason why Ryan is on the block and not Perry. |

First this...
Darren Dreger @DarrenDreger
Media pestering Fehr on specifics of the NHLPA's bargaining strategies. He's not biting. NHL's Revenue sharing will be a big issue.
Followed by this....
Tim Panaccio @tpanotchCSN
Fehr would not comment on whether there is ONE issue the players feel is a priority (my question to him)

i dont disagree with that. I dont think he had a good year this year defense wise to say his far superior on defense. |

Anaheim struggled for most of the season on defense. They werent very good and Hiller didn't play well either until later in the season. |

Yes I am..... S% is an indicator of how many of the players shots go in the net, you know making shots count.... - Philly1980
Just looking at the shooting% alone tells you very little about the player because it doesn't give any indication where shots were taken from, what situation they were taken in, the quality of competition/teammates on the ice when they were taken, and the reliability of the sample size.
Alex Ovechkin shoots at a career 12% clip -- should they replace him w/ Bobby Ryan? |

+/- isn't going to be a very fair area to make this comparison, especially if Bobby Ryan was in the coach's doghouse for cutting corners defensively. I expect Perry was relied on more than he for the tough defensive assignments. |

No he wasn't, and I can only imagine how brutal he and Ryan will be defensively together.

One interesting question that I thought of, say by some miracle, Lindros makes it into the HHOF in the next year or two. Does Schnider allow his number to be retired? With Mark Howe, he said if he's good enough for the HOF, he's good enough to have his number retired by the Flyers.. |
