I like it acutally. But why would Anaheim deal Ryan for Brzy when they have Hiller? - stveshdy
People were asking what they'd pay for Ryan. That's about it for me. |

Wideman was an all-star last season. Not sure I agree.
The point, regardless, was that we could sign a solid, 2nd pair d-man via FA after said trade to replace Meszaros. I didn't mean to imply that he was merely a solid player. - LordStanley88
Wideman is a stiff in his own end. I think Meszaros has the ability and talent to be a better overall player. I think Meszaros has the potential to be the best defenseman out of the current group.
Sure we could sign a solid defensman in Free Agency. We could also sign a goal scoring Winger in Free Agency, rather then trade for one. We could also trade for one later in the Season. |

They wouldn't. It was a stupid and boneheaded proposal. - LordStanley88

What goal scoring winger other than Parise is of the same calibre as Ryan?
Maybe Semin, but I wouldn't want him at the rumored price. |
|

He said Garrison or Wideman. Not sure we can get either. - stveshdy
If the flyers target someone theres more than likely a chance to get him....i think ryan will be a flyer come july 1st. Homers just waiting to make sure hes got his bases covered before he pulls the trigger. |

I don't see why Parise is a pipe dream. It's unlikely sure, but the financial flexibility is there to make it happen. - LordStanley88
It would only be feasible if the Flyers let both Carle and Jagr walk. I spelled out why in yesterday's blog.

Very possible or the demands for Ryan are too high for him to pull the trigger. |

So its Ryan/Carle or Parise/Mez.
Unless the Flyers can trade Bourdon and Voracek for Ryan.
Either way they would need to replace a defenseman (most likely).
If they went those two routes of course. |

At the draft the rumored tag was Schenn, so I'd say the latter is the better guess. |

But they probably couldn't do that if they used all of their cap space to sign Parise, which is why I prefer scenario 1. |

Schenn i agree would be way to much...I was relieved when homer traded JVR for luke. |

Agreed scenario one is best. |

Flyers dont have to trade for Ryan if the price is too high. After July 1st we could see more forwards become available in a trade. |

cant put voracek next to him with a 9.8 Shooting%.
Also what happens if jagr doesnt sign who do you put up there? |

Who knows. Each year is different. They could struggle to score more this year and I would be fine with that as long as they arent in the bottom 10 in GAA. |

I've stated multiple times that I would like to add a front-line winger to pair with Giroux. |

So that's 2 players equal to Ryan that can be gotten in Free Agency. So there are options. But none of them I would term easily gotten. |

There are options, sure. But I'd prefer to deal for Ryan unless Parise becomes a legitimate possiblity. |

All of a sudden we are using shooting %s as a reason to put someone on a line with Giroux? You're reaching there, IMO.
And I haven't heard of many other choices other than Ryan, as if he's the only goal scorer available in the NHL. |

I'd love to deal for Ryan. But at the right price. It's hot out and I would sure like a bottle of water. But I'm not paying $5 for it. |
