Trade for Nabokov. - bradleyc4
I like it acutally. But why would Anaheim deal Ryan for Brzy when they have Hiller? |
|
|
|
They still need to get back to the cap before the season starts dont they? - stveshdy
Yea, by placing Pronger on LTIR, waiving Walker & Shelley. |

Mesz is a good, young d-man sure, but there options available in FA that would make him replaceable was my point, and we'd have the room to sign one too if we deal him and Jake for Ryan.
Hopefully that's clearer. - LordStanley88
Who are the options in Free Agency to replace Meszaros? |

I dont think scoring will be an issue if they arent in the bottom 10 in Gaa. Have to be better defensively and net. - stveshdy
Which is why tweaks - and not wholesale change - are preferable. |

They wouldn't. It was a stupid and boneheaded proposal. |

I dont think people are against getting Ryan its the price thats the issue. - stveshdy
Are there really no better options out there than Mez (w a bad back) @4 mill?
Voracek - Cant score not even in a chineese whorehouse.
1st - Late first rounder. |

I thought they couldnt do that until the regular season starts. I could be wrong. |

Garrison and Wideman are two off the top of my head. I suggested we sign the former as a replacement. |

Voracek is SO overrated by Flyers fans. - Flyers2821
This really annoys me. Good god.
Czech is gonna be good. Right now, we have a 22 year old with fantastic vision, good 2 way play, and is a decent forchecker. He works hard on the ice, and the kid is probably second to G on the team in passing abilities. He has a tremendous skillset and he's only 22. 22. How much better could he get by the time he's 25 or 26? He's going to be a good player. Each year he's gotten better, too. And don't give me the junk about how "this wasn't even his best year! Look at the numbers!" NO. He made huge steps forward this year I believe, because in the few CBJ games I watched when he was on the team, I saw ZERO of his insane ability to protect the puck as well as his hard work in both ends of the ice.
He continues to grow in all the areas of his game. The kid deserves a raise, and frankly I want to see him in the O&B for a long time. |

Right, but isn't that when you need to be cap compliable? Minor leaguers and AHL players are typically on your roster during the pre-season. |

They could re-sign Carle and sign Parise.
The Flyers can spend up to $77.3 million. That's 10% over the cap. - LordStanley88
Actually, $77,030,000. |

They definately need to add a 4th line center for faceoffs and special teams. I think they should go after Doan. I'm not willing to meet his 4 year demand but lets see what he wants. |

No guarantee that they can get either player. Either way, having two possible replacements doesn't equate to easily replaceable. And I'd rather have Meszaros then Wideman. |

Honestly Im not sure. |

We were looking for a top dman and we got schenn. I'm sorry but outside of the hitting, we didn't get get better, we stayed the same. Now, we lost jvr and possibly jagr. Over/unde r, does hartnell score 37 again? Does talbot score 19 again? The odds are against both of them. Is voracek a first line guy? I don't think that he is for an 82 game schedule. If you don't want ryan, you are asking a lot of the possible sophomore jinx. Sorry. |

The Regular Waiver period starts 12 days before the first day of the Season. |

Wideman was an all-star last season. Not sure I agree.
The point, regardless, was that we could sign a solid, 2nd pair d-man via FA after said trade to replace Meszaros. I didn't mean to imply that he was merely a solid player. |

To play devil's advocate here, I think Jake, Schenn, Couts, and Briere will all improve on their pt totals from last year barring injury. |
