the things with Russians is getting them to leave the KHL - nastyflyergirl
Especially defensive D and checking forwards... they usually stay home because they know the odds are stacked against them in North America. 9 out of 10 times, coaches and GMs here are going to opt for comparable Canadian depth players, unless you bring something really outstanding to the table.

First time he plays with a player of G's caliber a scores 37 goals after having 30 once? Not all Giroux but mostly. - NickTheKid87
Everyone knew his potential. Being in shape, focused, and playing with Giroux all contributed, but Giroux did by hand him his goals. How many breakaways did we see hartnell have this year? His skating was leaps and bounds better than in the past which imo had a lot to do with it. Giroux didnt skate for hartnell.
I see what you're saying but Hartnell himself had more to do with his turnaround this year IMO.

what are voracek and giroux going to do on the PP pass it to each other? wish voracek could score...giroux needs a sniper.....i think ryan is a fairly cheap proven one. - Philly1980
The flyers want Voracek to shoot more. I think we will see him improve there his season.

So it wasn't an accident that Giroux had more PP points than anyone else by a good margin and Hartnell was the benficiary in most cases?
Not taking anything away from Hartsy, but he definitely benefited from G.

I'm all for adding Bobby Ryan if it doesn't cost multiple assets off the current roster. Unfortunately, that's what Anaheim is asking for. He'll most likely be a Flyer anyway once his current deal runs out... is there really a need to pick apart defensive depth and gift them one of our kids just because we want him today?
There are other options out there... much more affordable ones.

It's not about that. It's about pairing Giroux with a front-line winger to take some pressure off of him. Defenses are going to be keying in on him more and more now, and I think he'll take a small step back next year if we don't add a guy like Ryan/Parise to pair with him.
It doesn't hurt to add more goals either, especially since our D is basically set. - LordStanley88
I know everyone wants to see Giroux get his sniper, but why do we need to break the bank for Ryan right now? Giroux will be in his second year as top line center. I'd rather wait until a deal or FA comes around that makes sense, not jump at the first thing that they can.

you need that killer instinct....voracek holds on and rags with the puck so does giroux most of the time...cant have two guys that do that on same line....this would be an awesome setup:
Hartnell - - - Giroux---- Ryan

No one is saying he didn't. But it seems to me he is saying you could have put that bear from Bryzgalov's twitter videos on his line and he would have scored 25 goals.

1) Ryan isn't jumping at the first thing they can. He's a local product, youth Flyer, and Clarke is his godfather. He has ties to the organization and would be a great fit here.
2) I don't think dealing a top 6 forward and d-man is "breaking the bank". Mesz is easily replaceable.
